Job Title: FSQ Technician Job Description Join our team as an FSQ Technician where you will play a pivotal role in monitoring, supporting, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality requirements daily. Lead by example in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and work cohesively as a team to drive improvements in food safety and quality. Be willing to step out of your comfort zone to tackle new challenges and learn new skills. Responsibilities
- Ensure both food safety and quality of products and processes regularly.
- Perform physical inspections and analytical testing for food safety and quality, including color, pH, seal integrity, temperature, date code, X-ray monitoring, weight checks, label accuracy, allergen checks, and cleanliness.
- Document all food safety and quality checks as required.
- Ensure stakeholders follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), good housekeeping, and company policies and procedures.
- Perform hold and release of products after thorough review and assessment for food safety and quality, following hold and release procedures.
- Provide feedback and guidance for corrective actions when non-conformance issues are found.
- Perform pre-operation inspection of line equipment and processing environment at the start of shifts or during line changeovers.
- Conduct environment testing such as ATP and allergen tests.
- Collect retain samples from the production line and perform product evaluation at the end of product shelf life.
- Perform proper calibration of laboratory equipment by set frequency and recordkeeping.
- Take appropriate actions to correct deviations or notify FSQ manager.
- Act as key monitor for reinforcing GMPs throughout plant and warehouse facilities.
- Perform direct GMP observations of facility and processing conditions, addressing any discrepancies with the appropriate department and following up for corrective actions.
- Reinforce GMPs during operation hours and lead by example.
- Perform GMP inspections of areas within the facility, communicating findings and actions taken to address GMP issues.
- Reinforce policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, third-party audit requirements, and internal standards.
- Actively support preparation for all 3rd party audits and customer audits.
- Follow documented protocols and audit food safety and quality records documented by operators.
- Seek ways to improve internal processes, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
- Maintain laboratory and work areas organized.
- Identify opportunities to improve current methods and processes, making recommendations to the FSQ Manager.
- Demonstrate adaptability by reacting appropriately to unexpected changes.
- Seek to develop technical knowledge through learning opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned, acting as backup for FSQ lead and team members in their absence.
- Assist in new hire and refresher trainings for food safety- and quality-related topics.
- Assist in mock-recalls and mock-product withdrawal sessions.
- Assist the FSQ Department in continuous improvement efforts and follow up on corrective action implementation.
- Keep FSQ Manager informed about problems and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with special in-plant or lab projects as directed.
Essential Skills

Work Environment The position requires flexibility in shift hours, with a 9pm start time, and may include covering weekend shifts as needed. Scheduled work days are Monday through Friday, with Saturdays dependent on production needs. Work conditions vary, with temperatures ranging from 5 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in processing departments. There is exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment, as well as electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards. The noise level is high and constant, with damp and slick floors. Physical requirements include frequent standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing. The role demands the ability to bend, stoop, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods. Close visual acuity is required to view computer terminals, analyze reports, manage data, and detail. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Union City, CA.
