Job description

Role At A Glance

As a Pre-Sales Engineer at Paystand, you'll play a critical role in our revenue engine, acting as the technical expert and trusted advisor throughout the sales cycle. You'll partner with Account Executives to deliver customized demos, navigate complex technical requirements, and architect solutions that integrate seamlessly with customers' finance and ERP environments.

Your deep understanding of midmarket ERP systems, ideally NetSuite, and accounting workflows will help you translate technical complexity into clear, compelling business value for finance leaders. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and enjoys influencing both pre-sales strategy and post-sale customer success.

What You'll Do

Technical Sales Partnership: Collaborate closely with Account Executives to guide prospects through technical discovery, product demonstrations, and solution design.
Demo Leadership: Deliver tailored, engaging product demos to finance decision-makers, including Controllers, CFOs, and Accounting teams.
Workflow Mapping: Understand and document customer workflows across Accounts Receivable, payment processing, and ERP systems; align those workflows with Paystand's capabilities.
Solution Architecture: Scope and define customer solutions, including custom workflows, integrations, and product configurations.
Statements of Work: Translate solution designs into accurate, high-quality SOWs for implementation and handoff.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product and Implementation teams to de-risk deals and ensure smooth post-sale transitions.
Field Feedback: Share market and customer insights with Product and Engineering teams to inform roadmap planning.
Pilot Ownership: Lead proof-of-concept or pilot engagements when needed to validate Paystand's value in complex use cases.
Sales Enablement: Train and coach the sales team on ERP-related product features, value messaging, and best practices in finance transformation.

QualificationsRequired

3+ years in a Sales Engineer, Solutions Consultant, ERP Consultant, or similar role
Deep knowledge of midmarket ERP systems, ideally NetSuite
Background in finance or accounting; CPA, CMA, or accounting degree strongly preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts to finance and non-technical audiences
Proven ability to deliver compelling product demonstrations and map workflows in real time
Experience in B2B SaaS, preferably fintech, payments, or AR automation

Nice to Have

Hands-on AI knowledge and experience using automation to scale your work
Familiarity with the broader midmarket ERP landscape, such as Sage Intacct, Acumatica, Microsoft Dynamics, Rillet, or Campfire
Experience with payment workflows, API integrations, or platform-based sales
Strong storytelling and persuasion skills during sales presentations

Why Paystand?

We're on a mission to reinvent commercial finance by bringing B2B payments into the digital age.
Join a team that's passionate about product innovation, customer success, and replacing outdated financial infrastructure.
Work with forward-thinking finance teams that are modernizing how money moves across the business.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range of $105,000-$135,000 per year, tied to location and experience, plus a 15% on-target bonus
Generous PTO and sick leave, because we believe in balance
401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans
Free snacks and paid lunches in the office
Stock options so you can own a piece of our success
Best-in-class tools and equipment to help you thrive
Strong growth opportunities as we continue to rapidly expand
