Job description

Private family relocating to the Upper West Side of Manhattan seeks an experienced, warm, and highly organized Nanny / Family Assistant to support the care of their three young children while also assisting with the day-to-day operations of a busy household. This is a dynamic, long-term opportunity for a flexible and proactive professional who enjoys balancing hands-on childcare with household support responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience caring for toddlers and young children, possess excellent childcare instincts, and be comfortable transitioning between childcare and family assistant duties throughout the day. During school and daycare hours, the candidate will assist with household organization, laundry, meal preparation, errands, and general household support before transitioning into childcare responsibilities in the afternoon, including daycare pickup, after-school activities, and evening routines.

This is a full-time, live-out position based on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The general schedule will consist of five days per week, typically totaling approximately 40 hours, with a schedule that may be structured around a late morning start and early evening finish. One example schedule may be 11:00am–7:00pm, allowing time for household support responsibilities during school and daycare hours before transitioning into childcare duties later in the day. The family is open to discussing alternative schedules and structures to align with the right candidate's experience and market expectations. Flexibility is required based on the children's schedules, school holidays, occasional evening needs, and family travel.

The family is seeking a long-term fit who is adaptable, nurturing, highly organized, and eager to become an integral part of a respectful and appreciative household. Additional strengths in cooking, household management, household organization, or administrative support are highly valued.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Childcare:

• Provide attentive, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for three children, with primary responsibility for the family's two-year-old child
• Manage afternoon and evening childcare routines, including daycare and school pickups, activities, meal times, bathing, and bedtime preparation
• Foster a safe, structured, and engaging environment that supports children's emotional, social, and developmental growth
• Plan and engage children in age-appropriate activities, outings, and enrichment opportunities
• Assist with school and activity logistics, including transportation and schedule coordination
• Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the children
• Maintain organization of children's bedrooms, toys, clothing, and belongings
• Support parents in maintaining consistent routines and household expectations
• Additional childcare responsibilities as needed and requested

Family Assistant / Household Support:

• Perform children's and family laundry, including washing, folding, ironing, and organization
• Assist with meal preparation and light cooking for the children and family as needed
• Maintain an organized and tidy kitchen, including dishwasher management, refrigerator organization, and cleanup following meal preparation
• Organize closets, storage areas, pantries, and children's spaces
• Run household errands as needed, including grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, and household supply procurement
• Maintain household inventories and ensure essential household items remain appropriately stocked
• Coordinate deliveries, service appointments, and household vendors as needed
• Assist with general housekeeping and daily household upkeep to help maintain an organized, tidy, and efficiently run home
• Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel
• Provide administrative and family assistant support as needed to assist with the smooth day-to-day operation of the household
• Help maintain overall household organization and daily functionality
• Support special projects and general household operations as needed
• Additional family assistant and household support duties as needed and requested

Requirements:

• Strong command of the English language with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent references from both current and former employers
• Minimum 5+ years of professional experience working as a Nanny, Family Assistant, or similar role within a private household
• Extensive toddler and young-child experience required
• Demonstrated longevity and stability in prior positions preferred
• Experience supporting multiple children of varying ages
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
• Warm, patient, nurturing, and child-focused demeanor
• Proactive, resourceful, and highly adaptable with a positive, can-do attitude
• Comfortable balancing childcare responsibilities with household support tasks
• Strong understanding of household organization, home management, and maintaining efficient household systems
• Flexible and open-minded regarding schedule structure, with the ability to transition seamlessly between household support and childcare responsibilities throughout the day
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with parents and household staff
• Cooking and meal preparation experience strongly preferred
• Household management experience is a plus
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred
• Valid Driver's License preferred
• Valid Passport preferred with willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
• High level of discretion, professionalism, emotional intelligence, and commitment to confidentiality
• Able to legally work within the United States for any employer

Compensation: $110,000 - $150,000 per annum + Benefits
