Job description

Family Helper & Assistant:

1099 will be given at the end of the year

Part time 15-25 hours per week (could get more hours later)

Timing we need is from 11 to 4 (could be up and down because of family doctor appointments and other things) but most days this will be the timing. We may decide to do more hours in evenings and weekends as our budget permits. Spoken English must be good.

$15-$16 per hour - Beginning Rate - Depending on Experience & Interviews with both sisters

$17-18 - Possibility for the right person after 90 days trial period - this is only after 90 days so please do not ask before the trial phase is finished. Offer will be made in this range after a review is done after this 90 day period.

We are looking for a Family Helper who can help us with the following daily life chores

- if we find the right person this can be a long-term position.

  1. Basic upkeep of the home (we have a person to do deep cleaning)
    1. Maintaining a clean & tidy home
    2. Organization where needed
    3. Keeping inventory of food in the fridges - keeping them organized and clean
      1. Create a system that helps family since everyone is busy or not well
    4. Assisting with cooking like chopping veggies etc and sometimes making a dish
    5. Emptying & Loading Dishwasher
    6. Washing pots and pans
    7. Starting Laundry, switching to dryer, folding laundry
    8. Keeping living room and Dining room areas tidy
    9. Maintaining the cleanliness in the kitchen and basics (basic cleaning is required in this position- daily)
  1. Elderly in the Home
    1. Assisting our elderly mother in the bathroom with what she needs - she is becoming independent again but sometimes needs assistance like handing her things or getting bidet water or wiping and washing with gloves from the back when she has a BM just to make sure she is clean.
    2. Keeping our mom’s vitamins and medicines organized
    3. Keeping her bedroom tidy
    4. Our elderly dad may need assistance some days with his cooking he tries to do himself
  1. Exercise with mom around the house and sometimes outside. Help her walk around the house and keep her moving so her walking improves
  1. Massage her legs, feet, back, neck and sometimes arms.
  1. Give her meals that are cooked by the family and if the family didn’t pre-made that day find something and make it yourself after asking her what she wants. Sometimes cook dishes in advance and keep later for the week to help family have more for her. She eats non spicy so we will teach you and small quantity for her is enough.
  1. Sometimes help her shower. Help her change and encourage her to do as much as possible.
  1. Sit with her and give her some company. Talk to her.
  1. She needs help navigating her phone so helping her around on her phone.
  1. Get things for her things from around the house when she is sitting down.

Should any other needs come up as tasks we need help with we will let you know.

Our goal is to have mom make significant improvements in the next 6 and we need someone responsible, caring, loving, and compassionate to be by our mothers side as well as help our family.
