POSITION TITLE
Senior Expense Manager
POSITION LOCATION
Richmond/Lynchburg, VA (Hybrid)
YOUR ROLE
In this role, you will be responsible for providing budget development and strategic expense management support for the Genworth Insurance Closed Block IT Team. Serving as the principal liaison, you will cultivate in-depth expertise within your assigned functional area and establish robust partnerships with peers and senior leadership to drive effective expense management initiatives.
What you will be doing
  • Support functional leaders with comprehensive expense planning, analysis, and strategic management
  • Understand and align your client's specific strategy with that of Genworth as a whole
  • Manage monthly close tasks, such as expense accruals, reclassifications, and project capitalization
  • Lead annual budgeting processes, including system setup, training, validation, and reporting
  • Collaborate with cost center owners for detailed expense analysis and forecasting within budgets
  • Identify key expense drivers, highlighting trends and offering strategic recommendations
  • Handle ad hoc reporting requests, including cost-benefit and vendor savings analyses
  • Participate in projects to enhance finance processes and drive technology transformation

What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • General understanding of General Ledger Accounting
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office or G-suite products (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to find answers
  • Attention to detail with ability and desire to understand the big picture
  • Ability to self-lead and take initiative
  • Strong sense of accountability for results
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to develop and deliver clear, crisp, audience-focused messages and presentations
  • Passion for building partnerships with colleagues and senior leaders
  • Efficient in time-management and prioritization of multiple deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to indirectly lead & persuade

  • 2+ years of people leadership experience
  • Budgeting and Expense Management experience
  • Oracle Financials Experience (TM1, Orbit or similar)
  • Spotfire, PowerBI, Alteryx, and/or Copilot experience
