Expediter Job Description

As an expediter, you will need to monitor the kitchen and the food preparation areas. 

You will also manage the kitchen staff, including making sure the staff stays on task, completing dishes in the appropriate order, and preparing all food to meet safety standards.

Responsibilities as an Expediter

  • Read orders to kitchen staff and assign staff members to complete them
  • Check all finished food for safety and appearance
  • Keep kitchen and food preparation areas clean and sanitized
  • Keeps track of food preparation time to make sure the kitchen is operating efficiently and customers do not have to wait excessively for their food
  • Ensure that all food stations are properly stocked
  • Control the work flow in the kitchen to maximize the staff's efficiency
  • Keep the kitchen work area well-organized
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned or requested by management
