Job description

Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) is hiring an Events Manager to lead fundraising and supporter engagement events across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Create meaningful experiences. Build community. Help advance access to sexual and reproductive health care.
At PPCW, events are more than gatherings-they are opportunities to connect supporters to our mission, celebrate our community, cultivate philanthropy, and generate critical resources that sustain our work. As Events Manager, you'll lead the planning and execution of fundraising events, donor experiences, and community engagement opportunities that strengthen relationships and expand support for Planned Parenthood.
You'll join a collaborative Development team committed to building a culture of philanthropy and advancing health equity throughout our service region.
About the Role
The Events Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Development events from concept to completion.
Working closely with the Director of Development, you'll lead event logistics, project management, vendor relationships, and event execution for a variety of experiences, including major fundraising events, donor cultivation and stewardship gatherings, affinity group events, and community-hosted fundraisers.
This role combines strategic planning, relationship management, and hands-on execution. You'll collaborate with Development colleagues, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and community partners to create exceptional events that support organizational goals and deepen engagement with Planned Parenthood's mission.
What You'll Do
In this role, you'll oversee event planning from initial concept through post-event evaluation.
On a typical week, you might:
  • Lead planning and execution for fundraising events, donor appreciation events, affinity group gatherings, and supporter engagement activities
  • Develop project plans, timelines, run-of-show documents, and event briefings
  • Manage event logistics including venues, vendors, audiovisual needs, staffing, and guest experience
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for event vendors, venues, sponsors, and community partners
  • Support third-party event hosts by providing guidance, resources, and logistical assistance
  • Coordinate volunteers in partnership with PPCW's Volunteer Manager
  • Solicit and secure in-kind support for events
  • Track budgets, expenses, attendance, revenue, and other key event metrics
  • Gather feedback and continuously improve event processes and outcomes

You'll play an important role in helping the Development team meet fundraising goals while creating memorable experiences that inspire supporters to stay connected to PPCW's work.
Schedule & Location
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week).
Location: Flanagan Regional Service Center (FRSC), Northeast Portland
Hybrid Schedule:
  • In-office Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Additional on-site presence required for events and event-related activities
  • Remaining work may be performed remotely

Work Hours:
  • Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm

Regular evening and weekend work is expected to support fundraising events, donor gatherings, and community engagement activities. Travel throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington is required, including occasional overnight travel.
What We're Looking For
We know great candidates come from a variety of backgrounds. If you're excited about this role, we encourage you to apply-even if you don't meet every qualification.
Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of experience in event planning, project management, or a related field
  • Experience managing complex logistics and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with vendors, venues, sponsors, or community partners
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to community-centric fundraising principles
  • Valid driver's license, active insurance, and reliable transportation

Nice to Have
  • Experience planning fundraising events
  • Experience securing sponsorships or in-kind donations
  • Experience managing volunteers
  • Experience with donor databases such as Raiser's Edge NXT
  • Experience working in nonprofit, healthcare, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations

Pay & Growth
$65,915 - $96,033 annually. Pay is based on experience and internal equity.
This role offers the opportunity to build expertise in nonprofit fundraising, donor engagement, event strategy, sponsorship development, and community-centered philanthropy.
Benefits & Support
We offer a benefits package that supports your health, stability, and growth:
  • Paid time off (up to 4 weeks, increases over time)
  • 9 paid holidays
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees
  • 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching contributions
  • Free, confidential counseling and support (EAP)
  • Ongoing professional development and learning opportunities
