Job Summary:
Command Post Technologies (CPT) is seeking an experienced and driven Cyber Event Designer to join our team supporting the National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC) at Pax River. This role emphasizes cyber event design and cyber range operations, focusing on creating and executing realistic, operationally relevant training and evaluation events for Department of Defense (DoD) stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the development of innovative and realistic cyber event scenarios tailored to DoD mission objectives, integrating complex networks, systems, and applications.
• Define event objectives and translate user requirements into actionable tasks for the event team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop cyber terrain designs that replicate operational environments, incorporating real-world conditions and threats.
• Utilize advanced cyber range tools to create scalable, virtualized environments for both training and evaluation purposes.
• Identify and address gaps in existing event designs, continuously improving processes and outcomes.
• Manage the setup, configuration, and execution of cyber range events, ensuring all systems and infrastructure meet event requirements.
• Oversee the integration of defensive and offensive cyber tools, TTPs, and emerging technologies into event scenarios.
• Monitor network and system performance during events, resolving technical challenges in real time.
• Facilitate collaboration between range users, sponsors, and technical teams to ensure successful event execution.
• Conduct post-event analyses to capture lessons learned and provide actionable recommendations for future events.
• Operate and configure advanced cyber range tools, including deployment, monitoring, and traffic generation systems, to support complex event requirements.
• Design and maintain realistic cyber terrains, including global gray and target environments, with a focus on network infrastructure, enterprise IT systems, and virtualization technologies.
• Continuously evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance range capabilities and event realism.
• Communicate effectively with range users, sponsors, and leadership to gather requirements, align expectations, and deliver mission-critical results.
• Present event designs, findings, and technical recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Author detailed event design documents and impactful technical briefings to support stakeholder decision-making.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline with demonstrated expertise in network design and cybersecurity.
• Experience: 8+ years of experience with cyber range operations, cyber event design, or network engineering.
• Advanced knowledge of Network design and architecture, including tactical and strategic networks; Virtualization technologies and enterprise IT systems (compute, network, storage); and Cybersecurity tools, techniques, and TTPs (both defensive and offensive).
• Proven experience designing and executing realistic cyber event scenarios, leveraging advanced cyber range tools and methodologies.
• Familiarity with synthesizing user requirements into actionable event objectives and designs.
• Skills: Strong technical writing skills for authoring event design documents and reports.
• Superior oral communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments.
• Clearance: Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
Preferred:
• Master’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 10+ years' experience designing and maintaining complex cyber terrains, including multi-domain operational environments.
• Familiarity with cyber range tools, including deployment, monitoring, and traffic generation systems.
• Extensive experience planning or conducting DoD Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) or Offensive Cyberspace Operations (OCO).
• Knowledge of emerging cybersecurity technologies and trends relevant to cyber range operations.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, or CompTIA Security+.
