Job description

Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales, and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits' products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Our products are also used in detection, measurement, and imaging applications, including military communication, guidance, and electronic countermeasure systems, commercial, scientific, military land, sea, and aircraft; automotive systems, medical systems, and industrial test equipment.

Mini-Circuits sells its products to over 20,000 customers globally through our direct sales force, applications engineering staff, and sales representatives, as well as through our extensive website.

Position Summary:

Engineering Project Manager II leads cross-functional product development initiatives from concept through production and catalog release. This role builds strong internal and external partnerships to deliver high-quality RF & Microwave solutions, drives structured project planning and execution, and manages multiple concurrent programs. The position applies sound judgment, prioritization, and creative problem-solving to navigate ambiguity, mitigate risk, and consistently deliver projects on schedule, and within scope.

Salary Range - $105,000 - $120,000 per year

Job Function:

  • Works independently or in conjunction with Product Design Engineers, Supply Chain, and Quality on product development projects.
  • Works cross-functionally with all associated departments involved in product design, characterization, qualification, and the release to production and/or the release to website.
  • Leadership in managing a team of Project Managers (direct reports, as required) and Engineers (indirect reports) through example, transparent communication and negotiation.
  • Works to develop productive working relationships through networking with senior staff in the sister organizations and other organizations both within and outside of Mini-Circuits.

Project Definition:

  • Accurately define the project purpose, scope, and objectives (performance, budget, cost, timeline, ROI assessment, the project budget, project deliverables and key milestones and project resource requirements. A drive to phase gate completion
  • Project Definition includes the agreement and commitments from the supporting functional departments to the project objectives.

Project Planning Work and Resource Allocation:

  • Lead the Project Management Team to ensure the cross-functional engineers follow the planning requirements of new Product Development projects (i.e. the assignment of milestones, schedules, budgets, product costs, deliverables, risks and mitigation plans, and resources constraints).

Project monitoring, Reporting and Escalation:

  • On a regular basis, document the status of the work effort relative to the agreed-upon plan in the Mini-Circuits Project Generation Process (PGP).
  • Executes projects in accordance with established procedures and guidelines (opening, closing, data tracking integrity).
  • Develops and clearly communicates project objectives cross-functionally. Reporting includes escalation of projected project shortfalls in a timely manner to affect the appropriate corrections.

Project Performance:

  • Responsible for the attainment of the project objectives including the review of project deliverables for coverage and quality.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Partners with the managers of Procurement, Manufacturing Process Engineering, and Test Engineering to achieve timely execution for engineering design, pre-production, test, and qualification.
  • Lead the compliance efforts regarding documentation standards for the engineering process to allow successful results for internal and external audits.
  • Accountable for successfully closing projects in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Take proactive steps to address risks/opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Documenting and implementing lessons learned from closed projects.
  • Accountable for defining cross-functional team responsibilities, setting goals, and overseeing the success of the team.

Qualifications:

  • BS Electrical Engineering with 3 years related experience OR;
  • MS Electrical Engineering with 1 years related experience with RF or Microwave industries
  • Strong research, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Experienced in the use of Project Management, ERP, and PLM tools (JIRA, Smartsheet, and/or Arena desirable).
  • Experienced using Excel for database management (sorting, filtering, processing, categorizing, and graphing skills are essential).
  • Experienced using PowerPoint for generating engineering, sales, and marketing presentations. Graphing skills are essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Capable of determining methods and procedures on new assignments and capable of coordinating activities of cross-functional personnel (Team Lead).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to ask questions, articulate customer requests, and report back to the Mini-Circuits team.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time results and be accountable.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, lead, and get results through others.
  • Strong team player.
