An engineering project manager is in charge of ensuring the successful completion of a project by managing the team and all equipment. As an engineering project manager, you work closely with the clients to design and develop a detailed plan for the project. Your job duties include creating cost proposals, ensuring all safety regulations are met, and maintaining financial records. You are often involved in the entire product development process. The exact job responsibilities depend on the specifics of the project.

To become an engineering project manager, you need at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering. However, most engineering project managers earn a master’s degree or even a doctoral degree. You must also pass the Professional Engineer exam to earn your PE license. This career requires extensive work experience, up to a decade, in both your field of engineering as well as project management. Additional qualifications include excellent analytical, communication, and management skills.

Job Summary

Our company is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to oversee the construction of our major projects. In this role, you will work with our clients to develop a detailed plan, which includes budgets, timelines, and regulatory considerations. You will also manage the onsite team and ensure that they adhere to the plan. Since you will oversee the entire project, you should be familiar with a wide range of engineering disciplines, including electrical engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering. You should also have at least a master's degree in one of these fields. Project management professional certification is a major plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop a detailed administrative plan
• Create initial drafts of the project in AutoCAD
• Work closely with clients to ensure they are satisfied with all aspects
• Oversee the engineering and construction teams during the project
• Secure the proper equipment and labor force
• Ensure the final project meets regulations for more hazardous factors, such as electricity

Requirements and Qualifications

• A master's degree in an engineering discipline
• PMP certification
• Several years of engineering and leadership experience
• Skills with relevant software, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Project
