Project Engineer - Defense Search

OVERVIEW

responsible for the duties listed below.

Immediate opening for a Project Engineer in Whippany, New Jersey who possesses:

  • BS degree in Engineering preferred mechanical or electrical
  • 6+ years of experience in a project engineering/management role
  • Aerospace industry experience is highly preferred


FULL DESCRIPTION: The Project Engineer provides internal leadership for

engineering programs in terms of overall design, development, analysis, testing,

reporting, and business considerations, such as budget and schedule, from

proposal through qualification testing. The Project Engineer is expected to lead

beyond the normal scope of task-based project engineering. Knowledge,

experience, personal drive, and creativity will motivate this individual to

present and support ideas that will affect the direction of current and future

programs. The individual will be the primary technical interface with customers.

Some travel will be required to meet with customers, and vendors and perform

equipment evaluations as necessary. The candidate must possess strong

interpersonal skills which are critical to working in a team environment with

other design disciplines within the organization. Daily interactions with

Design, Reliability, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management are

required. In addition, the candidate will be expected to interact with the

customer (both commercial and military) as well as suppliers regularly, taking a

lead role during technical discussions and formal coordination meetings.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Manage the activities for engineering programs throughout the lifecycle of the program, including proposal, design, analysis, and qualification testing.

The Project Engineer will:

  • Generate and review technical reports/presentations, including formal

documents to be submitted to the customer.

  • Perform program planning and budgeting.
  • Be a liaison with the customers and suppliers.
  • Lead project teams and interface with customers and operations personnel.
  • Works closely with functional departments to ensure that all requirements are

being addressed; recurring and non-recurring costs, adherence to schedule,

safety, product functionality, and customer satisfaction

  • Work in a team environment with other design disciplines within the

organization. Daily interactions with Design, Reliability, Manufacturing,

Quality, and Program Management are required.

  • Strong knowledge of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Works courteously and resolutely with customers, subcontractors, and

suppliers to achieve project goals

  • Performs risk management and alerts senior management when concerns arise

which could affect project cost, schedule, or system safety

  • Prepares project data deliverables
  • Develops requirements specifications for subcontracted components
  • Work both individually and as a leader and key contributor on project teams
  • Participate in and be responsible for all meetings regarding the subject

duties involving company or customer personnel.

  • Other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Technical skills include a working knowledge of hydraulic and

electromechanical systems - aerospace/defense environment preferred or closely

related role in defense or aerospace industries

  • Strong leadership, communication, teamwork, organizational, and project

management skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills
  • Must possess and demonstrate motivational and leadership qualities.
  • Business and technical astuteness
  • Successful candidates must meet all requirements under ITAR.
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and multi-tasker.
  • Must have exceptional communication skills to communicate technical issues

through written, verbal, and presentation media.

  • Experience with hoists and winches preferable.
  • Must have knowledge of MIL. Specs and civil aerospace requirements.
  • AS9100 Quality System experience preferred.
