An Engineering Analyst is expected to provide technical support to project managers and seniorย engineering staff on a wide range of engineering analysis and condition assessment projectsย involving power plant steam piping, headers, tubing, turbines, and other critical mechanicalย equipment. The Engineering Analyst plays an integral role in supporting multidisciplinary projectย teams and contributes to the evaluation of potential failure mechanisms, identification ofย high-risk locations, assessment of remaining component life, prioritization of inspectionย activities, and determination of the current condition of in-service equipment.
This role supports condition assessment projects from initial scoping through execution andย reporting and includes opportunities to participate in and support field assessments at customerย facilities. Over time, the Engineering Analyst may assume increasing technical responsibility andย project ownership, including leading defined technical tasks and supporting overall projectย management efforts. This position offers strong technical development and growth opportunitiesย while contributing to high quality engineering solutions that help ensure the safe, reliable, andย long-term operation of critical energy and industrial infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities:โข ย Assist with engineering analysis and condition assessment projects involving power plant andย industrial mechanical components
โข ย Create representative solid models and drawings of equipment using SolidWorks or otherย software
โข ย Perform thermal and structural finite element analyses using commercial software such as ANSYSย and Abaqus
โข ย Support ASME Code calculations, fitness-for-service evaluations, and remaining lifeย assessments
โข ย Work with engineering and inspection data to evaluate component condition, damage mechanisms,ย and inspection priorities
โข ย Assist with field assessments at customer sites, including supporting nondestructive examinationย activities such as metallurgical replication, hardness testing, and advanced ultrasonic methods
โข ย Prepare and contribute to technical reports, calculations, and client presentations documentingย findings and recommendations
โข ย Support project execution activities, including data review, documentation, and coordinationย with engineering and inspection teams
โข ย Assist with internal engineering initiatives focused on process improvement, methodologyย development, automation, and technical quality enhancements
Required Skills/Qualifications:โข ย Bachelorโs degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline
โข ย 0โ3 years of engineering experience (internship, co-op, or professional experienceย preferred)
โข ย Interest in mechanical systems, stress analysis, and solving complex technical problems
โข ย Coursework or exposure to finite element analysis, fracture mechanics, fatigue, or heat transferย preferred
โข ย Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with databases, programming, or automationย tools is a plus
โข ย Familiarity with ANSYS, Abaqus, and/or SolidWorks preferred
โข ย Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
โข ย High attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy and quality
โข ย Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats
โข ย Willingness to learn, take initiative, and support a variety of engineering tasks
โข ย Expected to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
Travel and Working Conditionsโข ย Approximately 25% travel annually, primarily during scheduled plant outage periods
โข ย Field work at power generation and industrial facilities, with exposure to heat, cold, noise,ย dust, and humidity
โข ย May require working at moderate heights and in confined spaces.
โข ย Must be able to meet site access requirements, including respirator fit testing, physicals, andย drug screening
