As an engineering analyst, you use data and various pieces of technical information to analyze a project plan, schedule all tasks, and then recommend solutions to problems that may arise throughout the project. You may work with other engineers and designers to plan a new project or troubleshoot for an existing project. In this career, your responsibilities include providing reports on your analysis to the lead engineer or other stakeholders in the project.

The qualifications that you need to start a career as an engineering analyst include a college degree and job experience. Most employers seek engineering analyst job applicants who have a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the company’s industry. If a company works on public works projects, for example, then you need a degree in civil engineering. Some employers may prefer a master’s degree holder or an engineer with a professional engineer (PE) license. A PE license requires four years of experience after obtaining a bachelor’s degree.

Job Summary

We are looking for an Engineering Analyst to ensure our various projects meet both company and governmental standards. You will analyze the work of other engineers and designers, look for potential hazards or compliance issues, and make suggestions on how to fix them. While we prefer that we catch these issues in the drafting phase, you will also work with engineers throughout construction to address any last minute problems. Our ideal applicant has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, a professional engineer (PE) license, and several years of experience in civil engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with engineers and drafters in the design period to avoid issues
• Audit designs for compliance or safety issues
• Oversee the construction process and address issues as they arise
• Inspect projects after construction
• Provide reports to the lead engineer and stakeholders
