Job description

Driver Manager
Location: Rocklin, CA
We are seeking an experienced Driver Manager to oversee and support our professional driver team while ensuring compliance with all applicable DOT, FMCSA, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. This role is responsible for driver performance, safety, compliance, documentation, scheduling, and day-to-day driver support. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can hold drivers accountable while building a positive, safety-focused team environment.
What You'll Do
  • Manage driver performance, including coaching, feedback, and progressive discipline.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and reinforce a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure drivers remain compliant with all DOT, FMCSA, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date driver qualification and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with collecting pre-employment and training documentation and ensure materials are routed appropriately.
  • Conduct audits of delivery activities and driver documentation.
  • Respond to driver questions, concerns, and operational issues promptly and professionally.
  • Follow up with delivery locations regarding driver and delivery concerns.
  • Investigate spills, cross-drops, accidents, and other incidents as required.
  • Ensure all accidents and incidents are reported according to company procedures.
  • Help ensure driver schedules are met and deliveries are completed safely and on time.
  • Conduct driver check rides to identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and performance.
  • Assist with gate checks to ensure drivers have required documentation and equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Assist with the maintenance and operation of company trucks and equipment.
  • Monitor the overall health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.
  • Maintain qualified driver status in accordance with applicable DOT requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with management, drivers, other departments, customers, and delivery locations.
  • Provide management with updates regarding daily operational issues and driver concerns.
  • Ensure drivers have the tools, resources, instructions, and expectations necessary to perform their jobs successfully.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements and a good driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Professional attitude with a strong commitment to safety and customer service.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and 24/7 on-call availability.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.

Preferred
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience in the fuel transportation industry.
