Job description

Summary

The Production Control II role is responsible for ensuring efficient management of production schedules, addressing material shortages, supporting interdepartmental collaboration, and overseeing external service processes. This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage production-related issues, and continuous communication with various departments to ensure that production flows smoothly and that any challenges are resolved in a timely and effective manner. This role is key in maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of operations, driving improvements, and supporting the overall success of production projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production Problem Resolution

  • Confer with production personnel to identify and resolve production challenges.
  • Act as a liaison between departments to quickly resolve issues that impact project timelines or production goals.
  • Identify any production or project issues that require immediate attention and report them to the Production Control Supervisor.
  • Provide regular updates on project status and any concerns that could impact overall production timelines.

Manage Part Shortages

  • Monitor and track material shortages that may impact production schedules. Report material shortages to the Production Control Supervisor and key stakeholders
  • Work closely with SCM to ensure materials are available on time and inventory is managed appropriately.
  • Develop contingency plans to resolve issues quickly and minimize schedule disruption.

ERP Schedule Coordination

  • Collaborate with the planning department to ensure the ERP system generates an accurate production schedule.
  • Monitor schedules and resolve discrepancies or systemic issues.
  • Ensure project timelines are maintained and communicate schedule risks proactively.

MIR Operations Accuracy

  • Work with planning and quality departments to ensure MIR operations are accurate and compliant with standards.
  • Ensure that data is correctly captured and communicated across the appropriate channels.
  • Report any discrepancies in MIR processes to the Production Control Supervisor and suggest corrective actions.

 

 

Lean Product Flow Improvement:

  • Identify and implement opportunities for lean product flow improvement across the production process.
  • Work with team members to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
  • Report any obstacles to the Production Control Supervisor and suggest improvements to optimize production workflows.

Manage OSP Requests and Improvements:

  • Oversee and track OSP (Outsourced Processes) requests, ensuring timely execution and documentation.
  • Evaluate and suggest improvements to OSP processes to enhance overall efficiency and quality.

      Engineering Collaboration for Design and Drawing Releases:

  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure timely drawing releases and the integration of design improvements.
  • Ensure that any design changes are properly communicated to the production team.
  • Help identify and resolve issues caused by design or drawing discrepancies.

Cross Departmental Communication:

  • Maintain open lines of communication with logistics, quality, program management, and other departments to keep all stakeholders informed of project details, progress, and potential issues.
  • Ensure that information is communicated in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring smooth operations and collaboration across departments.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Production Control Supervisor, in alignment with departmental goals

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification

High School diploma or equivalent required.  Minimum of two years' relevant experience in an aerospace production environment.  Vocational and technical schooling preferred.

Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.

This safety-sensitive position is covered by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Any applicant selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment drug testing. Persons occupying a "safety-sensitive" position will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing. Post-accident, reasonable cause, and return-to-duty tests may also be required based on specific circumstances. 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate well with others, both verbally and in written format.
  • Mathematical knowledge and ability to apply towards problem solving.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task effectively, and work under pressure.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours, as required.

Physical Requirements.

  • Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance and ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Able to reach overhead.
  • Able to work in a non-dust-free environment.
  • Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
  • Full range of motion with both hands.
