Job description

Traffic Control Field Flagger/Helper
SCOPE OF JOB:
The Field Flagger/Helper is responsible for assisting Drivers to execute work orders in a timely manner.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform stretch and flex exercises.
  • Report to Dispatch to receive team member information.
  • Help Driver pull and load trucks as work order specifies.
  • Make sure trucks are correctly loaded.
  • Help Driver deliver and set up work orders based on TXDOT and/or MUTCD standards.
  • Make sure work trucks are clean.
  • Train with Drivers to acquire the skills to perform the Driver job.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to comprehend and perform all daily tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work with different crew members.
  • Ability to work on high-speed roads.
  • Ability to read traffic control plans.
  • Ability to communicate with customers in a professional manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school degree or equivalent education/experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Medium industrial work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move, transport, install, and remove objects.
  • Visual acuity is constantly required to operate machines, equipment, and/or motor vehicles, perform mechanical or skilled trade tasks, and ensure the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Frequently subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions with no effective protection from the weather.
  • Occasionally subject to hazards that may include a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat exposure to chemicals, and/or functioning in narrow aisles or passageways.
  • Occasionally subject to noise at a level that may require the employee to shout in order to be heard.
