Position Overview

The Project Site Document Controls Specialist supports document control operations for Advanced Technology projects and reports to the Document Control Manager on the assigned project. This position is responsible for executing project document control processes in a field environment, maintaining accurate and timely flow of controlled documentation, and supporting project teams with document management across engineering, procurement, construction, quality, startup, turnover, and client deliverables. The ideal candidate brings prior project site document control experience, strong organizational discipline, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

Kiewit's Industrial District is a leading provider of construction and engineering services, delivering some of the most complex and challenging projects across North America. Within the Advanced Technology market, our teams support fast-paced, high-performance projects that require strong coordination, disciplined execution, and consistent processes. This role plays a key part in supporting project teams by ensuring controlled, efficient, and reliable management of project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Location

This position may be based in a district or area office or on a project site, depending on business needs. Candidates must be willing to travel and relocate as required to support project assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Support document control activities for Advanced Technology projects in accordance with project procedures, company standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Independently receive, log, distribute, track, file, retrieve, and maintain controlled documents, including drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, correspondence, quality records, and turnover documentation.
  • Maintain document control systems and project files to ensure records are accurate, complete, current, and properly stored.
  • Monitor revision status, version control, and document workflows to ensure project teams are using current documents and established processes are followed.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to support document submission, review, approval, turnover, and closeout activities.
  • Support the Document Control Manager with reporting, process implementation, training, and continuous improvement efforts on the project.
  • Identify document control issues, support resolution of discrepancies, and help maintain compliance with project requirements.
  • Support project audits, reviews, turnover, and closeout by maintaining complete and organized project records.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure proper handling of sensitive and proprietary project information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, information management, construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Progressive experience in document control, records management, project administration, or a related support role in construction, engineering, EPC, or industrial environments.
  • Previous project site document control experience on large, complex construction projects preferred.
  • Experience supporting Advanced Technology, industrial, manufacturing, mission critical, or similar technical construction projects preferred.
  • Working knowledge of document control practices, revision control, records retention, transmittals, turnover, and audit support.
  • Proficiency with electronic document management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage large volumes of information accurately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across project teams.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced project site environment.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and commitment to quality and accuracy.
