Position Description
As the Director, Business Development, you will be responsible for expanding our market presence, establishing key relationships, and fostering new opportunities for our cutting-edge quantum solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our quantum solutions by driving market expansion and helping industries unlock the power of QCi's photonic technology portfolio.
In this role, you will be an ambassador for QCi's photonics and quantum technologies, influencing both commercial and governmental sectors, educating potential customers on the transformative impact of quantum technology, and managing the end-to-end sales lifecycle. You will actively lead efforts to grow our business in existing and new markets, with a focus on cultivating high-value partnerships and pursuing high-impact opportunities in emerging sectors.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic sales and business development initiatives with a focus on R&D sales, identifying new market segments, partnerships, and commercial and government opportunities to grow the company's footprint.
  • Partner with internal technology leaders, Engineering Team, and Directors of Product to plan, negotiate contracts and agreements, and execute sales of developed technologies and products.
  • Drive market entry strategies and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in both commercial and governmental sectors.
  • Craft and present tailored proposals for prospective customers, focusing on addressing unique regional needs and opportunities.
  • Qualify and evaluate opportunities based on potential impact, budget, readiness, and timeline, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Product, Marketing, Legal, etc.) to ensure the seamless execution of business strategies and drive customer success.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline, tracking and evidence-based forecasting progress to ensure ambitious revenue targets are met.

  • Negotiate and close high-value deals, fostering long-term relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor industry trends and technological developments, representing the company at conferences, customer meetings, and other industry events.
  • Expected to drive double-digit millions in annual revenue through new customer acquisitions and partnerships.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in strategic sales and business development within high-tech or deep-tech industries (preferably within quantum computing, AI, or emerging technologies).
  • A strong understanding of quantum computing principles, either through formal education, self-study, or practical experience.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing business development strategies that led to significant revenue generation.
  • Proven experience in negotiating and closing complex sales and successfully launching new business initiatives.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with various departments to drive business outcomes.
  • Fluency in English, with proficiency in additional European languages being a plus.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience with government sales or navigating procurement processes for complex technology solutions (RFPs, tenders, etc.).
  • Familiarity with technical pre-sales or solutions engineering, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A prior experience in high-performance computing and cloud sales is a plus.
  • Track record of consistently exceeding sales targets and expanding into new markets.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and work in a high-growth, startup environment.
  • Experience in quantum computing, AI, or other related fields is highly desirable.
