Job description

Director of Operations


A leading global supply chain and logistics organization is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to oversee multiple distribution centers and lead a team of operational leaders. This is a high-impact leadership position responsible for driving operational performance, developing talent, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting the overall growth and success of the assigned business group.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished operations leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can effectively lead through multiple layers of management, and has the ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operational excellence.

About the Role

The Director of Operations will oversee multiple distribution centers, each supporting customers with unique operational requirements. This leader will build strong customer partnerships, serve as a strategic extension of the customer's business, and ensure operational teams consistently deliver against performance, service, and growth objectives.

This position serves as a critical connection between distribution center leadership and senior management and will have significant accountability for the performance and development of the overall business group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple distribution centers and their respective management teams.
  • Establish a culture focused on performance, accountability, continuous improvement, and measurable results.
  • Build, develop, and retain strong leadership teams across the assigned facilities.
  • Coach and mentor General Managers, Operations Managers, Supervisors, and other leaders.
  • Drive professional development and succession planning throughout the organization.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring service expectations are consistently met.
  • Partner with internal functional teams to improve operational performance and achieve business objectives.
  • Develop and execute strategies that support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Monitor performance metrics and hold leadership teams accountable for achieving goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on business strategy, organizational development, and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, service quality, and overall profitability.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships throughout the organization.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and resources to support the success of multiple operational teams.
  • Take ownership of results and consistently deliver against business objectives.


Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, distribution, or a related operational environment.
  • 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Operations management
    • Strategy development and implementation
    • Organizational design and implementation
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple teams, managers, or operational locations.
  • Strong customer relationship management and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop leaders and drive measurable business results.

Preferred:

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience in management consulting or a strategic supply chain role.
  • Experience overseeing multiple distribution centers or complex operational environments.
  • Strong background in organizational development, continuous improvement, and strategic planning.
