Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking an Antitrust Associate to join a premier Antitrust & Competition practice in Washington, D.C. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney looking to work on sophisticated antitrust litigation, government investigations, and enforcement matters involving some of the most complex competition issues facing businesses today.

The ideal candidate will have antitrust experience, strong analytical and writing skills, and a desire to work on high-profile civil, regulatory, and criminal antitrust matters.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in a broad range of antitrust and competition matters
  • Advise clients in:
    • Civil antitrust litigation
    • DOJ and FTC investigations
    • Civil conduct investigations
    • Criminal antitrust enforcement matters
  • Conduct legal research and prepare strategic analyses on complex competition issues
  • Draft:
    • Motions
    • Briefs
    • Legal memoranda
    • Investigative submissions
    • Client advisories
  • Assist with government investigations, regulatory responses, and litigation strategy
  • Manage discovery, witness preparation, and fact development
  • Collaborate with clients, economists, industry experts, and regulatory authorities
  • Participate in all phases of litigation and enforcement proceedings
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Law school class years 2019–2023
  • 2–6 years of relevant antitrust experience
  • Strong substantive knowledge of antitrust and competition law
  • Experience with:
    • Antitrust litigation
    • Government investigations
    • Regulatory enforcement matters
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Outstanding oral communication and advocacy abilities
  • Ability to manage sophisticated matters in a fast-paced environment
  • Top academic credentials
Preferred Experience
  • DOJ or FTC investigations
  • Prior government service with the DOJ or FTC
  • Civil conduct investigations
  • Criminal antitrust enforcement matters
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $235,000 – $390,000
