The Home & Garden business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. Job Summary
The Associate National Account Manager is responsible for managing all activities relating to sales and relationship growth for assigned customers . This responsibility includes entails managing a portfolio of accounts and products, presentation creation, analysis, forecasting, promotional planning and business development for the assigned region and division.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Developing profitable strategies that will maximize the Spectrum Brands SKU listing and create a best-in-class assortment for our consumers.
  • Becoming the expert on assigned accounts with a clear understanding of the customer's needs, strategies and objectives. Use this expertise to maximize the Home Care business within each individual account.
  • Leading development of annual quotas and profit plan for assigned customers.
  • Creating sales action plans; monitoring actual results vs. plan throughout the year, adjusting and adapting as needed to maximize topline sales and bottom-line profitability.
  • Learning and utilizing Category Management and Fact-Based Selling concepts to uncover whitespace opportunities and/ or optimize current assortment.
  • Collaborating with sales and marketing leaders to recommend opportunities for increased business penetration, based on knowledge of customers and category.
  • Managing the Broker partnership to effectively complete all administrative forms, programs, resets, or projects necessary.
  • Scheduling, building and delivering retailer specific presentations for line reviews, programs, mid-season updates, etc. that align with Spectrum Brands mission and vision.
  • Building and closely managing relationships with customers at the buyer level and beyond to create or enhance the partnership.
  • Providing the Customer Team Lead with regular updates of customer performance vs. prior year same period, identifying sales trends and opportunities.
  • Building effective working relationship internally and externally.
  • Facilitating and attending customer trade shows.
  • Communicating effectively and on time.
  • Developing the annual promotional plan to maximize sales opportunities by having the right product, in the right quantity, at the right time.
  • Use data analysis to assist in the coordination of promotional plans. Integrate national marketing advertising and promotional plans into the customer plan as applicable.
  • Accurately and timely forecast with Demand and Supply Planning to guarantee on-time delivery.
  • Develop and coordinate the plan for product delivery and merchandising at the customer.

Education and Experience Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related discipline is required
  • Minimum of 2-4 years work experience in a related field, consumer products industry is preferred
  • Knowledge of and/ or experience selling FMCG to retailers, typically gained through 3 plus years of sales/field experience or category/sales analysis
  • Direct account management experience is preferred but not required. Exposure to syndicated data is also a plus but not required.

  • Must be familiar with P&L management and managing to a budget.
  • Accountable for sales volume compared to quota, profit compared to budget.
  • Solid tactical and strategic abilities with proficiency navigating obstacles and finding solutions at a rapid pace.
  • Ability to work independently with high integrity, managing multiple tasks and prioritizing accordingly.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to learn and use data to forecast business trends, forecast projections and trade spend effectiveness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High proficiency in PC skills (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations)
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • High level of organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Goal-oriented individual who can focus on obtaining objectives through a teamwork approach.
  • Strong presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the internal and/ or customer organization(s).
  • Approximately 25% travel required.
