Job description

The DEI Student Assistant supports the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in creating an inclusive, connected, and engaged campus community. This role provides students with opportunities to contribute to DEI programs and initiatives aligned with the university mission while developing skills in communication, collaboration, event planning, and community building.Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Support planning and implementation of DEI programs, events, and campus initiatives aligned with the university mission to foster a steady stream of global citizens committed to living a contributive life.
  • Assist with event logistics, outreach, promotion, and day-of coordination.
  • Create or support communications, social media, flyers, and other materials.
  • Help gather student feedback and perspectives to inform DEI programming.
  • Support community-building activities and conversations among students.
  • Conduct basic research on topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and community.
  • Provide general administrative and project support to the DEI Office.
  • Participate in other projects that support the goals and priorities of the Office.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a student at the university.
  • Interest in diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and/or community building.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to learn and engage with people and perspectives different from their own.
  • Previous experience with events, communications, student organizations, or community-building is helpful but not required.
