Job description

Responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the Metro Fulfillment Center within a specific region or area. This role involves managing teams responsible for fulfillment, inbound and outbound operations, inventory, quality control, and the showroom. Fulfillment Center managers work closely with local branches and the corporate Supply Chain team to ensure that service level agreements (SLAs) and customer expectations are met.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Oversees all operational and resource management personnel activities within a fulfillment center.
Drives productivity and operational processes, ensuring adherence to expense budgets and operational guidelines.
Provides effective leadership to the MFC within a specific region, to ensure full compliance with OSHA, DOT, ADA and other governmental regulatory agencies while complying with company policies concerning health and safety.
Leads a team of assistant managers and supervisors, as well as full-time and part-time staff.
Oversees human resources processes for the facility including hiring, coaching, training, and performance management and disciplinary actions.
Oversees the daily operations and organization of the showroom floor for optimized performance.
Monitors key performance indicators and implements and executes on process improvement action plans (especially for productivity and quality) to address known gaps and mitigate risk of future gaps within the MFC.
Nature and Scope
  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Education and Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally, 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of operations processes
  • Supervisory or people management experience. Extensive OSHA, DOT, ADA regulatory knowledge
  • Experience in a senior management role within an operations/distribution/logistics/retail environment
  • Experience developing and managing budgets, managing P&L, monitoring regulatory compliance, and analyzing financial/operational data
  • Senior-level experience managing multiple functional areas (e.g., receiving, shipping, QA, order filling) within a warehouse or Logistics network
