Job description

Materials Management and Transportation Manager

Boeing Fabrication South Carolina Aerostructures (FSCA) is seeking a Materials Management & Transportation Manager (Level K) to lead our Fulfillment team in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

This onsite position will provide oversight & leadership to individual contributors supporting our Tool Control, Hazmat, Warehouse, & Shipping and Receiving across our Orangeburg site. You will be managing a team of production coordinators. This role involves complex data/trend analysis, problem resolution, strategic planning, scheduling and project execution.

You will manage KPI performance & support emergent orders and inventory. You will collaborate frequently with multiple business functions & teams to include 777x, 737, 787 Operations/Production, Lean, Quality and Compliance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages and integrates employees' activities across more than one area in materials management and transportation

  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals

  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees

  • Works with urgency and makes decisions weighing business goals and employee needs

  • Effectively communicates company and business unit goals, objectives and priorities

Boeing First-Line Leader Assessment:

To be considered for this position, you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functionalproject/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course 'Exploring Leadership'

  • 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or manufacturing support environment

  • 3+ years of Materials Management or Supply Chain experience

  • 1+ years of training or experience using Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Ability to work any shift assigned

  • Ability to work over weekends and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Previous experience as manager or team lead

  • 3+ years of formal/informal leadership experience

  • Experience with the following (or similar industry) systems: CribMaster, Kit Integration and Tracking System (KITS), E-Enabled Tracking and Communication (eTRAC)

  • Experience with safety and quality processes

  • Self-motivated, works well independently

  • Experience operating a forklift
