Corporate Development, Senior Manager
Location: McLean, VA (Onsite/Hybrid)
Job Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $200k per Year
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Corporate Development to lead strategic growth initiatives, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and business case development for high-impact investment opportunities. This role partners closely with executive leadership and business unit leaders to identify, evaluate, and execute acquisitions, equity investments, and strategic initiatives that drive long-term business growth.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Strategy Consulting, or Strategic Finance, with expertise in financial modeling, valuation, commercial due diligence, and executive-level business case development. Experience within the Aerospace, Defense, Government Services (GovCon), or Technology sectors is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end business case development for acquisitions, equity investments, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Partner with business and market leaders to identify, evaluate, and prioritize M&A opportunities aligned with corporate strategy.
  • Build and maintain a robust M&A sourcing pipeline based on market trends, competitive intelligence, and strategic priorities.
  • Perform commercial and business due diligence to assess market attractiveness, competitive positioning, and strategic fit.
  • Develop sophisticated financial models, including:
    • Valuation models
    • Financial forecasts
    • Waterfall analyses
    • Scenario and sensitivity analyses
    • ROI frameworks
    • Operating P&L models
  • Translate business cases into integration strategies by collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the M&A lifecycle.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and industry assessments to identify growth opportunities and strategic risks.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations, investment memoranda, and recommendations for senior leadership, investment committees, and board meetings.
  • Develop standardized methodologies and best practices for business case development and M&A evaluations.
  • Mentor and guide junior Corporate Development team members while supporting multiple high-priority strategic initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Corporate Development
    • Investment Banking
    • Strategy Consulting
    • Strategic Finance
  • Proven experience leading business case development for acquisitions, investments, or strategic initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • M&A transactions
    • Commercial due diligence
    • Financial analysis
    • Valuation methodologies
  • Advanced financial modeling skills using Microsoft Excel, including:
    • Financial forecasts
    • Waterfall models
    • Scenario analysis
    • ROI analysis

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to structure complex business problems and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets using advanced Excel functions, including Pivot Tables and complex formulas.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government, GovCon, Aerospace, Defense, or Technology organizations.
  • Knowledge of federal budgets, appropriations, or government contracting.
  • Experience developing complex operating P&L models.
  • Experience performing Monte Carlo simulations and advanced financial risk modeling.
  • Prior experience supporting executive leadership, investment committees, or board-level decision making.
