Position Summary

The Contractor Sales Associate is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with professional contractors by delivering exceptional customer service, living Gold Beach's Core Values, and consistently executing the Seven Steps of Customer Service.

This position assists contractors with product selection, quotations, purchases, special orders, and project solutions while generating sales, supporting store operations, merchandising assigned areas, and collaborating with teammates to ensure outstanding service and operational excellence.

The Contractor Sales Associate serves as a trusted advisor who helps customers complete projects successfully while creating lifelong Customer Advocates.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Process account charges, cash sales, returns, exchanges, and special orders accurately.

  • Participate in merchandising, receiving, stocking, and maintaining assigned work areas.
  • Communicate effectively with management and teammates regarding customer needs and operational priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or vocational school graduate preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in the building materials, hardware, construction, or related industry preferred.
  • Previous retail, contractor, sales, or customer relationship experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of retail computer systems; experience with Microsoft Office applications is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.

Travel

No regular travel is required for this position.

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to:

  • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours per shift.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance when appropriate.
  • Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, push, and pull building materials and merchandise throughout the workday.
  • Climb and descend ladders safely.
  • Read plans, product information, computer screens, and written materials.
  • Communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Working Conditions

This position regularly works in contractor sales offices, retail sales floors, warehouses, lumber yards, and outdoor environments. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, forklifts, moving equipment, and changing temperatures while maintaining a safe environment for customers and teammates.
