Candidate Location: Candidate must reside in lower 48 states (Continental US) and comfortable working EST time zone hours.
Project Scope:
Seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support implementation and ongoing operations of a vendor-hosted Electronic Health Record (EHR) system across multiple healthcare locations. The role involves working closely with clinical, technical, and IT teams to support system configuration, reporting, workflow optimization, and integration activities.
The analyst will support both implementation and operational phases of the EHR platform, ensuring smooth coordination between stakeholders, system users, and technical teams while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards and security policies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as a Business Analyst supporting enterprise-wide EHR implementation and operations activities.
• Gather, analyze, and document business and clinical requirements from stakeholders and end users.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications, workflows, and system configurations.
• Support design, build, testing, validation, and deployment of EHR modules and enhancements.
• Work on system optimization including workflows, configuration changes, and reporting improvements.
• Develop and maintain documentation including business requirements, process flows, and system design documents.
• Collaborate with clinical analysts, IT teams, and business users to define current and future state workflows.
• Support development and modification of custom reports and data extracts using reporting tools and query languages.
• Assist in interface analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of integration issues between systems.
• Participate in testing activities including system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Validate system functionality against business requirements and ensure successful implementation outcomes.
• Support user onboarding, training sessions, and end-user support activities.
• Assist in identifying and resolving system issues, defects, and workflow gaps.
• Work with technical teams to monitor data quality, system performance, and interface stability.
• Maintain system documentation, training materials, and knowledge base articles.
• Participate in change control processes, ensuring all modifications follow governance standards.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to prioritize requirements and manage project deliverables.
• Support ongoing system enhancements, upgrades, and production support activities.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare IT standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide regular status updates, reports, and documentation to project leadership.
• Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiency and user experience.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in healthcare IT or enterprise application environments
• 5+ years of experience supporting system analysis, implementation, or application support
• 5+ years of experience working with healthcare systems, workflows, or clinical applications
• Experience with data analysis, reporting, and system integration activities
• Strong experience in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management
• Experience supporting system testing, validation, and UAT processes
• Knowledge of HL7 or healthcare data exchange standards
• Experience working with interface troubleshooting and system integration support
• Strong understanding of SDLC and change management processes
• Experience creating business process documentation and workflow diagrams
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with Cerner or other EHR platforms
• Experience with clinical workflows and healthcare operations
• Knowledge of report development or query tools (e.g., SQL, CCL, or similar)
• Experience working in public sector or large healthcare organizations
• Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, security frameworks)
