What is a remote strategic partnership manager?

A Remote Strategic Partnership Manager is a professional responsible for building, maintaining, and expanding relationships with key business partners, clients, or stakeholders while working remotely. Their main goal is to identify mutually beneficial opportunities, negotiate agreements, and collaborate with internal and external teams to drive business growth. They often analyze market trends, develop partnership strategies, and ensure that partnerships align with the company’s overall objectives. Their remote status means they use digital communication tools to manage relationships and projects from any location.

How does a remote strategic partnership manager typically collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive successful partnerships?

A Remote Strategic Partnership Manager regularly coordinates with cross-functional internal teams such as sales, marketing, legal, and product development to align on partnership objectives and deliverables. Externally, they foster relationships with potential and existing partners through virtual meetings, presentations, and negotiations, ensuring mutual goals are understood and achieved. Effective communication, project management skills, and adaptability are crucial, given the remote nature of the role and the need to bridge time zones and cultures. Building trust and maintaining engagement remotely can be a unique challenge, but leveraging collaboration tools and setting clear expectations helps ensure partnership success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote strategic partnership manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Strategic Partnership Manager, you need a strong background in business development, relationship management, and strategic planning, usually backed by a degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms, project management tools, and data analysis software is typically required. Join Us at PSI - Where You Belong, Grow, and Thrive!
At PSI, we believe that people achieve their best when they feel they truly belong. That's why fairness and opportunity are at the heart of everything we do - not just words, but values deeply embedded in our culture and the full employee experience.
We're proud to foster an environment where everyone is supported to reach their full potential. From your first day through every step of your journey with us, you'll feel the difference in how we work, grow, and succeed together.
What You Can Expect From Us - We know that great work starts with feeling valued. That's why we've benchmarked all our roles against local market rates and why you'll always see salary details in our job postings. We believe in transparency, and we want you to feel confident that your next move aligns with your expectations.
About the Role
The Strategic Partnership Manager owns PSI's relationship with the third-party test site partners across an assigned US region. These partners run independently under a franchise-style model to deliver PSI assessments to test takers. The Strategic Partnership Manager is their main point of contact inside PSI and their advocate, accountable for keeping each relationship healthy, holding partners to network standards, and helping them succeed commercially and operationally.
Success is measured on partner retention, partner satisfaction, and adherence to network standards, alongside the region's contribution to quality, volume, and security goals. The role partners closely with Sales and Client Services on new partner pursuits and program launches, and acts as a senior PSI representative to partners, colleagues, and prospects.
This is a full-time, permanent role, Monday to Friday, aligned to the operating hours of partner sites in the assigned US region, with flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends. The role involves regular travel to partner sites, though most work is done remotely.
Role Responsibilities
  • Own the relationship for an assigned portfolio of third-party partner sites and act as their primary point of contact inside PSI.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with partner owners and operators, and run regular business reviews with each one.
  • Act as the partner's advocate inside PSI: resolve escalations, remove blockers, and coordinate the right internal teams on their behalf.
  • Hold partners accountable to network standards for quality, security, and the test-taker experience.
  • Manage partner agreements within the standardized engagement model. Avoid bespoke or one-off terms that sit outside the framework.
  • Onboard new partners and support program launches alongside Sales and Client Services.
  • Track partner performance against agreed KPIs and put improvement plans in place where sites fall short.
  • Lead the difficult conversations, including remediation and, where standards aren't met, offboarding.
  • Spot growth opportunities and gap markets within the region and feed them into network planning.
  • Escalate risks and recommendations to the Senior Director of Channel and Partner Management.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's/undergraduate degree is preferred, and/or progressive experience in a related field.
  • Experience managing external partners, franchisees, vendors, or channel relationships is essential.
  • Experience in a customer- or client-facing role is essential.
  • Experience in a testing, certification, or regulated service environment is preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and account management skills.
  • Comfortable holding partners accountable and handling conflict directly.
  • Commercially aware, and able to read partner performance data and act on it.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office software are desirable.

Benefits & Culture
Alongside a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being, your future, and your sense of purpose:
  • Retirement Benefits: 401(k), pension, or country-specific retirement plans with employer contributions
  • Generous Time Off: Enhanced paid time off/annual leave policies
  • Health & Wellbeing Coverage: Medical insurance tailored to your region, plus:
    • US: Dental, vision, life, and short-term disability insurance
    • UK: Medical cashback plan including dental, vision, and income protection
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (US)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential support whenever you need it
  • Work-Life Balance: We understand life happens outside of work, and we fully support flexibility
  • Wellness Culture: Regular global wellness initiatives to help you stay healthy and inspired
  • Future Planning: Tools and support to help you grow personally and professionally
  • Giving Back: Enjoy a Volunteer Day each year and opportunities to support our communities and industry

At PSI, we're more than just a workplace - we're a global team driven by shared values and real impact. If you're ready to be part of a company that's committed to your growth and well-being, we'd love to hear from you.
