Job description

Job Title: Bakery Clerk Location: Howell, New Jersey Type: Contract-to-permanent Compensation: $16.00 hourly Contractor Work Model: Onsite Hours: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM Monday-Thursday & 8:00 AM-1:30 PM on Friday. Will be paid for 40 hour work week

Position Summary:

The Bakery Clerk is responsible for providing outstanding customer service, maintaining product displays, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring the bakery is clean, organized, and fully stocked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers warmly and assist with product selection

  • Take and package customer orders accurately

  • Operate cash register and handle transactions

  • Slice and package baked goods

  • Restock displays and monitor product freshness

  • Assist with basic food prep and decorating as needed

  • Maintain cleanliness and follow food safety standards

  • Support team members during busy periods

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • Previous retail or food service experience preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Basic math skills for handling transactions

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
