Job description

Position Summary

The Business Intelligence & No‑Code Systems Intern will design, build, and maintain a relational business intelligence database using existing internal platforms, including no‑code or low‑code database tools that combine structured data, logic, and integrations within a collaborative workspace.

This role is intended for a Computer Science major or equivalent software‑capable student with strong data modeling and systems‑thinking skills. The intern will be responsible for creating a scalable, relational data framework that connects customers, industries, applications, equipment, internal product classifications, and competitive presence into a single, easy‑to‑use system for the sales organization.

The internship will begin with foundational data modeling and framework development. Upon successful implementation and initial data population, the role will expand to more advanced challenges such as integrating data from existing systems (e.g., CRM), supporting customer mapping efforts, and automating or parsing structured reports to reduce the time and effort required by the sales team to contribute and maintain data.

This internship is expected to run through the summer, with the potential for extension based on performance, progress, and business needs.

Essential Job Functions (Job‑Specific Knowledge / Skills)

Data Framework Development

  • Design and implement a relational data model using linked tables to associate:
    • Customers
    • Industries and market segments
    • Applications and use cases
    • Equipment types and OEMs
    • Internal product grades and classifications
    • Competitive presence at customer locations
  • Create intuitive data entry workflows, views, and forms to enable efficient use by sales and commercial team members.
  • Ensure data consistency, traceability, and usability across all related datasets.

Automation, Integration & Enhancement

  • Develop basic automations, logic, and workflows to streamline data entry and maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to import, sync, or structure data from existing internal sources such as CRM exports or recurring reports.
  • Support interaction between the database and customer mapping or market visualization tools, where applicable.
  • Continuously improve system usability based on feedback from sales leadership and end users.

General Responsibilities

  • Document database structure, assumptions, and usage guidelines.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to prioritize enhancements with clear business value.
  • Maintain long‑term data integrity, logical structure, and scalability of the system.

Qualifications (Expertise in Discipline)

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Solid understanding of relational data concepts (tables, keys, relationships).
  • Comfort working with no‑code or low‑code platforms, spreadsheets, or similar data tools; prior exposure to tools such as Airtable, Notion, or similar platforms is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to translate business concepts into structured data models.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially when explaining technical concepts to non‑technical users.

Core Competencies

  • Problem‑Solving Ability: Translates ambiguous business questions into structured, data‑driven solutions.
  • Action Orientation: Takes initiative to prototype, test, and improve systems.
  • Customer Focus (Internal): Designs tools that minimize effort and maximize usability for the sales team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Iteratively enhances systems as requirements evolve.
  • Ownership & Accountability: Treats the database as a production business system, not an academic exercise.

Work Environment

  • Office‑based and/or hybrid, primarily supporting internal stakeholders.
  • Standard office environment with prolonged computer use.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Internship Duration

This internship is intended to run through the summer, with the possibility of extension based on performance, demonstrated value, and business needs.
