Job description

This enterprise-facing role is responsible for leading portfolio performance diagnostics for the North America Retail (NAR) business, identifying the drivers of share, growth, and margin performance across categories, brands, and operating units (OU). You will synthesize syndicated market data (Circana/NielsenIQ), financial performance metrics, retailer signals, competitive intelligence, and macroeconomic and consumer trends to diagnose the underlying drivers of business performance across the enterprise portfolio.

This position plays a critical role in elevating enterprise conversations from reporting to diagnosis—helping leadership understand the category, competitive, and portfolio dynamics shaping performance across the business. You will develop fact-based enterprise performance narratives that translate complex datasets into clear strategic implications for leadership: clarifying what is happening in the industry and business, what’s driving change, and where risks and opportunities exist, along with actions to improve outcomes.

You will partner closely with Insights & Analytics leaders, Corporate Finance, Investor Relations, Corporate Strategy, and Operating Unit leadership to ensure enterprise decisions are grounded in credible market intelligence and objective performance diagnostics.

We are seeking a results-oriented leader with proven success in building objective, data-driven stories and weaving insights into executive-level communications.

Key Leadership Capabilities
  • Enterprise portfolio mindset: Understands portfolio dynamics across categories, brands, and operating units.
  • Structured diagnostic thinking: Isolates the underlying drivers of share, growth, and margin performance.
  • Executive communication: Translates complex data into clear, concise, decision-ready narratives.
  • Business acumen: Connects analytics to real business outcomes, investment priorities, and strategy.
  • Collaborative influence: Works effectively across Business Performance Analytics (BPA), Finance, Insights & Analytics, and Operating Units.
 Key AccountabilitiesEnterprise Portfolio Performance Diagnostics

Lead cross-category enterprise performance diagnostics to identify drivers of volume movement, share, and competitiveness across NAR. Analyze and integrate multiple enterprise data sources including:

  • Syndicated market data (Circana, NielsenIQ, Numerator, etc.)
  • Retailer and customer performance data
  • Internal financial and business performance metrics
  • Competitive intelligence and ecommerce signals

Develop enterprise points of view on category dynamics, competitive landscape shifts, and portfolio trends. Use these insights to diagnose key drivers of performance and translate analyses into clear, decision-oriented recommendations that inform enterprise priorities, portfolio strategy, and investment decisions.

Finance + Executive Readiness Partner (BPA / Corporate Finance / IR / Corporate Strategy)

Serve as a core partner for Board of Directors materials, Investor Relations (IR) briefings, CAGNY and investor conference preparation, and executive leadership presentations as needed. Develop fact-based enterprise performance narratives grounded in verified syndicated market data, financial performance metrics, and competitive benchmarking.

Operating Unit Support & Alignment

Conduct targeted Operating Unit (OU) business diagnostics to surface category, brand, and competitive gaps, white space, and priority choices. Partner with OU Presidents, Business Unit (BU) Directors, and OU Insights & Analytics Directors to:

  • Align enterprise points of view with OU strategies
  • Elevate analytical rigor
  • Drive consistent performance evaluation across the enterprise
Be a Leader, Mentor, and High-Performance Team Builder

Partner with the broader BPA team to develop and lead a whole-brained analytics training program to fuel the next generation of analytics leaders.

 Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in business-facing analytics roles (e.g., business performance, category, or syndicated market analytics) within CPG, retail, or related industries, supporting functions such as Sales, Marketing, or Insights & Analytics
  • Deep expertise analyzing syndicated market data (Circana / NielsenIQ) to diagnose category and brand performance across multiple levers
  • Strong understanding of category dynamics, competitive performance, and portfolio analytics
  • Experience integrating multiple enterprise data sources including household panel, retailer data, and financial performance metrics
  • Proven ability to translate complex datasets into clear enterprise performance diagnostics and executive-ready narratives, with strong deductive reasoning, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Experience supporting enterprise leadership forums, investor communications, or board-level analytics
  • Natural curiosity, personal motivation, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across multiple functions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Marketing, Market Research, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related field
  • Experience analyzing multi-category portfolios within large CPG organizations
  • Experience leading or mentoring high-performing analytics professional teams
  • Experience managing globally dispersed teams
Additional Considerations
  • This role is based in Minneapolis, MN. Relocation assistance will be provided.
  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
  • Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. General Mills will not sponsor applicants for this position for work visa.
