What sales job pays the highest commission?

Commission community solar sales roles often offer high commissions, especially for closing large-scale solar projects or contracts. These positions typically reward salespeople with a percentage of the project value, which can lead to substantial earnings for top performers. Success in such roles depends on sales skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to build client relationships.

What is the downside to community solar?

Additionally, some customers might experience less control over their energy sources and face potential issues with subscription management or contract terms.

How do Commission Community Solar Sales professionals typically collaborate with local utilities and community organizations?

In Commission Community Solar Sales, professionals often work closely with local utilities to ensure that solar projects meet regulatory requirements and integrate seamlessly with existing energy infrastructure. They also collaborate with community organizations to build trust, educate residents about the benefits of community solar, and drive subscriber enrollment. Effective communication and relationship-building are key, as these partnerships are essential for project success and customer satisfaction. This collaborative approach not only helps to increase project adoption but also provides valuable networking and career advancement opportunities.

How much commission does a solar salesman make?

A solar salesman in community solar sales typically earns a commission that ranges from 5% to 15% of the project’s total sale price. Compensation often includes a base salary plus commissions, with top performers earning higher percentages based on sales volume and performance metrics.

How much do you get paid for selling solar?

Commission Community Solar Sales representatives typically earn a combination of base pay and commissions, with total earnings often ranging from $40,000 to $100,000 annually depending on experience, sales performance, and company structure. Compensation is usually performance-based, with higher earnings linked to the number of solar contracts sold and the value of each sale.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Commission Community Solar Sales representative, and why are they important?

To excel in Commission Community Solar Sales, you need strong sales acumen, knowledge of renewable energy solutions, and preferably a background in sales or customer service. Familiarity with CRM software, solar proposal tools, and basic energy market regulations is typically required, and certifications like NABCEP can enhance credibility. Exceptional communication, persuasion, and relationship-building skills help you effectively educate and motivate potential customers. These skills are vital for driving sales, building trust, and promoting the adoption of community solar programs in a competitive market.

Job description

Community Solar Sales Representative

Location: Chicagoland, IL area

Company: Rubicon Direct

Job Type: Full-Time (5–6 days/week)

Compensation: $7,000–$12,000/month for starting reps in their first year (commission-based, uncapped earning potential)

About Us

Rubicon Direct is a fast-growing sales organization expanding its Community Solar division into the Chicagoland market. We're building a team of experienced, driven sales professionals to lead the charge in one of the fastest-growing energy programs in Illinois.

About the Role

We're looking for a Community Solar Sales Representative to join our Chicago-area team. This is a hybrid field sales role combining door-to-door canvassing with pop-up tent events, where you'll be educating homeowners on community solar programs and enrolling qualified customers to save on their energy bills — no panels, no installation, no upfront cost to the homeowner.

This is a full-time opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, self-motivated sales environment and wants to build serious income with a growing company.

What You'll Do

  • Work a hybrid schedule combining door-to-door canvassing and staffed pop-up tent locations in high-traffic areas
  • Educate homeowners on the benefits of community solar and how it works
  • Engage walk-up prospects at tent events and convert conversations into enrollments
  • Manage your pipeline from first contact to enrollment using our CRM system
  • Meet and exceed weekly/monthly enrollment targets
  • Represent Rubicon Direct professionally and build trust in every neighborhood and location you work
  • Work closely with your team lead/manager to refine pitch, close rate, and territory strategy

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 1 year of sales experience (required)
  • Door-to-door sales experience (required)
  • Based in or able to reliably commute to the Chicago/Lincolnwood, IL area
  • Available to work 5–6 days per week, full-time
  • Comfortable working both door-to-door and tent/event-based setups
  • Self-motivated, coachable, and comfortable with a commission-driven pay structure
  • Strong communication and people skills — you can hold a conversation and handle objections confidently
  • Reliable transportation
  • A competitive, growth-oriented mindset

What We Offer

  • $7,485 is the average monthly earnings for starting reps in their first year
  • Uncapped commission structure with some of the strongest rates in the industry
  • Fast-track leadership and override opportunities as you grow
  • Hands-on training and daily support from experienced leadership
  • A proven system, CRM, and lead infrastructure — you're not building this from scratch
  • A team-first culture built around growth, accountability, and winning together

How to Apply

If you're an experienced door-to-door closer looking for your next opportunity with real upside, we want to hear from you. Apply today to join Rubicon Direct's Community Solar team in Chicago.
