Job description


The Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) is conducting research to better understand micromobility usage in the Tampa Bay area. We are seeking an OPS Student Assistant to support field data collection, including camera equipment deployment and on-site work with study participants.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Work is performed primarily outdoors at field sites, including in heat, humidity, and variable weather
  • Up to 80% of scheduled hours involve local travel within the Tampa Bay area
  • Requires repeated lifting, carrying, and positioning of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Shifts may begin before dawn or fall on weekends, depending on the data collection schedule

Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, monitor, and retrieve field camera equipment at assigned study sites
  • Support traffic and micromobility data collection sessions in the field
  • Conduct participant intake, deliver study briefings and debriefings, and respond to participant questions during data collection sessions
  • Transport, set up, and maintain research equipment, including e-bikes
  • Record and enter field data accurately and completely
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled USF student in good academic standing
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, and lift, transport, and set up equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., an e-bike)
  • Available for early morning and weekend shifts as assigned
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with research participants
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately enter and manage research data
  • Punctual, dependable, and able to work independently in the field
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with a safe driving record

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior paid research experience at USF
  • Experience riding an e-bike
  • Current First Aid or CPR certification
  • Must complete Foreign Influence Screening
