To thrive as a Part Time Collections Specialist, you need a basic understanding of accounting principles, strong negotiation skills, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with collections software, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and Microsoft Office is often required. Excellent interpersonal skills, persistence, and professionalism are crucial for effectively communicating with clients and resolving payment issues. These skills ensure timely recovery of outstanding debts while maintaining positive customer relationships and supporting the organization's financial health.

What are part time collections jobs?

Part time collections jobs involve contacting individuals or businesses to recover overdue payments on accounts, loans, or bills, typically working fewer hours than a standard full-time schedule. Employees in these roles may make phone calls, send emails, or process payment arrangements, while maintaining accurate records of interactions. These positions are commonly found in industries such as banking, healthcare, utilities, and retail, and often require strong communication and negotiation skills. Job description

Description:Collections Care Specialist

Genesis Reference Laboratories (GRL)

Part-time - Phoenix, AZ

About Genesis Reference Laboratories

Genesis Reference Laboratories is a fast-growing, nationwide diagnostic lab specializing in molecular and toxicology testing.

Weโ€™ve scaled quickly because we do things differentlyโ€”accuracy, accountability, and patient care come first, always. Our team partners closely with healthcare providers to deliver results they can trust and act on.

At Genesis, youโ€™re not just another employee. Youโ€™re part of a team that:

  • Holds a high standard for quality and integrity
  • Moves fast, solves problems, and supports each other
  • Is actively expanding across new markets and services

That means real opportunity for people who show up, do great work, and want to grow.

Not your average healthcare role.

If youโ€™re someone who:

  • Enjoys working directly with patientsโ€”not just behind a desk
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Takes pride in doing things the right way, not the easy way
  • Can balance compassion with accountability

Youโ€™re exactly who weโ€™re looking for.

What Youโ€™ll Be Doing

As a Collections Care Specialist, you are the face of Genesis in the field and at our partner sites. This role blends patient care, specimen collection, logistics, and relationship management.

No two days are the sameโ€”and thatโ€™s the point.

  • Collect specimens (urine, blood, and other samples) with precision and professionalism
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered support during collections
  • Use our LIS system (Genuin) for patient entry, orders, and documentation
  • Prepare and manage collection kits and supplies
  • Transport specimens safely as part of our medical courier workflow
  • Serve as a key liaison between Genesis and partner healthcare providers
  • Support site operations and growth across assigned locations

What Your Day Looks Like

  • Start your day prepared and organized
  • Work directly with patients at assigned sites
  • Manage collections, documentation, and logistics in real time
  • Communicate with internal teams and partner staff
  • Adapt quicklyโ€”because healthcare doesnโ€™t run on a fixed script
Letโ€™s Be Honest โ€” This Role Isnโ€™t for Everyone

This wonโ€™t be a fit if you:

  • Need constant direction or supervision
  • Struggle with time management or attention to detail
  • Prefer repetitive, predictable workdays
  • Are uncomfortable with direct patient interaction
Youโ€™ll Thrive Here If You:
  • Are dependable and take ownership of your work
  • Stay calm, professional, and solution-focused
  • Can work independently while still being a strong team player
  • Communicate clearly and confidently
  • Take pride in accuracy and patient care
Why Genesis?

Weโ€™re not just growingโ€”weโ€™re building something meaningful.

  • Competitive compensation
  • 15 PTO days + 5 sick days + 8 holidays
  • Medical, dental, vision benefits (start after 30 days)
  • 401k with 4% match (after 90 days)
  • On-demand pay + bi-weekly pay
  • Leadership development opportunities
  • A team that values accountability, growth, and doing things right
Bottom Line

This role is for someone who wants to be trusted, relied on, and impactfulโ€”not just another employee.

Youโ€™re not just collecting samples.
Youโ€™re helping move patient care forwardโ€”every single day.

Apply today if youโ€™re ready to step into a role that actually matters.

Requirements:
  • 1+ year of direct patient care or customer service experience
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn systems (Genuin, EMR/EHR)
  • Reliable transportation
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Professional communication (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Phlebotomy, CNA, or Medical Assistant certification
  • Experience in specimen collection or lab environments
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills
