Cognitive Assessment information

What is a cognitive assessment?

A Cognitive Assessment job involves evaluating individuals' cognitive functions, such as memory, problem-solving, attention, and reasoning. Professionals in this field use standardized tests and tools to assess cognitive abilities, often for clinical, educational, or workplace purposes. They may work in healthcare, psychology, or human resources, helping to identify cognitive strengths, weaknesses, or potential impairments. Their findings can inform treatment plans, learning strategies, or job placement decisions.

What does a cognitive assessment professional do?

A typical day for someone working in cognitive assessment may involve administering standardized tests to clients or patients, scoring and interpreting the results, and preparing detailed reports for clinicians or referring professionals. You may collaborate with psychologists, physicians, or educational specialists to discuss findings and recommendations. The work often involves one-on-one interactions with clients from diverse backgrounds and requires careful documentation and adherence to ethical guidelines. Additionally, you might participate in team meetings to review cases or engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed for a cognitive assessment professional?

To thrive in a Cognitive Assessment role, you need a background in psychology, neuropsychology, or a related field, often with a relevant degree or certification, and strong analytical and observational skills. Familiarity with standardized cognitive assessment tools such as the WAIS, MMPI, or other neuropsychological batteries and electronic health record systems is typically required. Excellent interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and the ability to put clients at ease are valuable soft skills in this role. These capabilities ensure reliable evaluations, effective collaboration with healthcare teams, and accurate reporting to support patient care or research.

Job description

Traveling Clinical Diagnostic Specialist (1099 Contractor) - ABA Centers
Remote - Candidate must be willing and able to travel up to 90%, based on business needs.

Who We Are
We are the nation's fastest-growing provider of autism care, delivering high-quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy across a rapidly expanding footprint. Since our founding in 2020, we've scaled from a single clinic to nearly 70 operating areas in more than a dozen states, supported by a high-performance corporate infrastructure and data-driven decision-making.
Recognized as the #5 fastest-growing private company in America by Inc. magazine, ABA Centers is a self-funded, founder-led organization-a rarity in today's healthcare landscape. We've achieved this growth without private equity, relying instead on operational discipline, smart capital allocation, and a relentless focus on outcomes.
Our corporate team plays a mission-critical role in this success-developing scalable systems, managing risk, and driving the analytics that power our growth. If you're a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment, we offer a unique opportunity to help shape the future of autism care-while building on a legacy of operational excellence.
Our Origin Story
ABA Centers was founded by a father whose personal journey navigating autism care for his daughter revealed deep gaps in access, consistency, and quality across the system. Determined to disrupt the status quo in the autism care field and eliminate the unacceptably long wait lists for treatment, he built a company rooted in compassion, clinical excellence, and a relentless commitment to care that makes a difference.
Recognition & Awards
Our commitment to operational excellence, ethical leadership, and transformative care has earned our company and leadership national recognition from trusted sources, including:
  • Inc. 5000 - 5th Fastest-Growing Private Company in America
  • Financial Times - #1 on "The Americas' Fastest Growing Companies"
  • EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® U.S. Overall
  • South Florida Business Journal's Top 100 Companies
  • Florida Trend Magazine's 500 Most Influential Business Leaders
  • Inc. Best in Business, Health Services
