Detailed Description:This recruitment is open to current University of San Diego employees only. Only current USD employees are eligible to apply and be considered for this position.
Under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Student Success, the Associate Director for Case Management and Basic Needs Support leads the Case Management team and oversees the daily operations of Torero Food Pantry, providing specialized support for Torero students facing food, housing, and financial insecurity. This includes the aforementioned campus resources, as well as community, city, county, state and/or federal resources such as CalFresh, SNAP, and Medi-Cal applications, among others. The associate director will serve as the primary point of contact for the campus community and the case management team seeking or navigating basic needs assistance. When appropriate and as needed, the associate director may take the lead on specific student cases related to basic needs support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision
- Serve as a standing member of the Student Affairs Coordinating Committee (SACC)
- Support and facilitate training for case management processes and practices for new case managers and provide ongoing training and oversight
- Review incoming referrals and assign them to case management team as appropriate
- Supervise the case managers and student employees supporting the Torero Food Pantry
- Foster partnerships with external community organizations/agencies as appropriate
- Supervision of student employees including recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing support
- Serve as point of escalation for complex case management concerns
Basic Needs Management and Support
- Oversee the development of resources, programs, events, and services to support students' basic needs including housing, food, and employment
- Establish local and regional collaborative relationships and partnerships with business entities, community organizations, and local educational agencies pertaining to student basic needs
- Convene and lead a basic needs network of colleagues across campus
- Lead the Torero Food Pantry efforts, ensuring
- Supervision of student employees
- Partner with food bank affiliates, housing resources, and other non-profit entities to support students to secure resources.
- Manage basic needs initiatives registration process, review registration submissions, and inform students of pantry usage protocols.
- Lead coordination campus food pantry services, including ordering, stocking, and quality control for food in the pantry
- Stock pantry as necessary, receiving and recording pantry donations. Provide work guidance to student employees
- Order, receive, and stock food items Maintain food quality controls.
- Conduct case management services for students seeking basic needs support
- Conduct initial intake meetings to assess student needs and develop action plans for students
- Maintain detailed records in compliance with department and university protocols
- Facilitate workshops and registration assistance for students seeking CalFresh and MediCal
- Collaborate with the Office of Parent and Family Relations for Torero Closet Shopping Days for students in need.
- Stay apprised of changing federal and state guidelines.
- Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the basic needs initiatives
- Research, implement, and administer protocols, procedures, and changing business practices and processes for assigned area
- Develop and maintain handbooks, forms, and related policies and procedures.
- Direct and provide oversight of marketing strategies to promote assigned programs, projects, and services. Plan and coordinate assigned program workshops, presentations, information sessions and events.
- Maintain partnership and relationship with San Diego Food Bank, including facilitating site visits, submitting monthly reports and maintaining annual membership documentation.
- Conduct San Diego Food Bank appointments and food pantry shopping.
- Maintain funding allocations and submit annual funding requests. o Monitor the program budget and expenditures from multiple funding sources.
- Make recommendations regarding allocation of resources and expenditure of funds.
- Maintain records for data and assessment
Case Management & Administration
- Serve as liaison to campus resources
- Support case management team when staff are out of the office or positions are vacant
- Represent the Center for Student Success on various committees and at events, meetings, and trainings
- Additional ad hoc committees and responsibilities

Job Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree required, preferably in Higher Education, Social Work, Counseling or related field.
- Demonstrated deep commitment to inclusive excellence and diverse practices that recognize intersectionality and multiple identities in support of student wellbeing and development.
- Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, student affairs, social work or related environment. Four or more years of related experience is preferred.
- Experience managing sensitive and private information with a high level of discretion.
- Team oriented and demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and the ability to respond effectively to changing work conditions at the state, federal, and university level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on interdisciplinary teams to support students of concern is preferred.

- Understands and has ability to support the needs of students who are former foster youth, are homeless, at risk of homelessness or face other basic needs challenges.
