BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT LEADER

About Sierra Piedmont

Sierra Piedmont Engineers & Geologists (Roswell, GA) is a nationally recognized environmental engineering and consulting firm serving Fortune 1000 companies, financial institutions, commercial real estate owners, developers, manufacturers, and industrial clients throughout the United States.

Unlike large national consulting firms, we intentionally operate as a boutique organization where client relationships, responsiveness, technical excellence, and long-term trust define everything we do. Our clients know our professionals by name, have direct access to leadership, and receive practical, business-oriented environmental solutions delivered with exceptional service.

As we continue our next phase of growth, we are seeking an accomplished Business Development Leader to help accelerate the expansion of our national client base.

Position Summary

This is a senior leadership position responsible for developing new strategic client relationships and generating significant annual revenue growth.

Working alongside our existing Director of Business Development and executive leadership team, the Business Development Leader will identify, pursue, and secure new national accounts while strengthening Sierra Piedmont's position as a trusted environmental consulting partner.

The ideal candidate is a proven relationship builder with a demonstrated history of selling high-value professional services to large commercial or industrial organizations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan targeting Fortune 1000 companies and other national clients.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across multiple industries.
  • Build executive-level relationships with environmental managers, real estate executives, legal departments, and lenders.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership to develop winning proposals and presentations.
  • Represent Sierra Piedmont at industry conferences, association meetings, and networking events.
  • Lead complex sales opportunities from initial contact through contract execution.
  • Develop long-term account strategies that expand client relationships over time.
  • Maintain an active pipeline using CRM tools and provide accurate sales forecasting.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers to ensure a seamless transition from sales to project execution.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Sierra Piedmont's culture, values, and client-first philosophy.

Performance Expectations

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Generate approximately $750,000 to $1,500,000 in new annual consulting revenue.
  • Maintain a healthy and measurable sales pipeline.
  • Develop lasting strategic relationships with national clients.
  • Consistently identify new market opportunities.
  • Contribute to the long-term growth strategy of Sierra Piedmont.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of successful business development or strategic sales experience.
  • Success selling professional services, environmental consulting, commercial real estate services, and technical solutions.
  • Documented history of meeting or exceeding significant annual sales goals.
  • Strong executive presence with outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand technical consulting services and communicate their business value.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working with significant autonomy.
  • Bachelor's degree required; technical, engineering, environmental, business, or related degree preferred.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate is:

  • A consultative relationship builder rather than a transactional salesperson.
  • Comfortable engaging senior executives and corporate decision-makers.
  • Highly organized with exceptional follow-through.
  • Motivated by building long-term client partnerships.
  • Driven by measurable results while maintaining integrity and professionalism.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented.
  • Excited by helping grow a respected boutique consulting firm into its next stage of success.

Why Sierra Piedmont?

At Sierra Piedmont, you won't become one of hundreds of salespeople. You will work directly with company leadership and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of a growing environmental engineering firm with an outstanding reputation for technical excellence and exceptional client service.

Our boutique size allows us to move quickly, make decisions efficiently, and build genuine, long-term relationships with our clients. Every new client matters, every relationship is personal, and every team member has the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

If you are an accomplished business developer who thrives on building trusted relationships, enjoys winning strategic opportunities, and wants to help shape the future of a respected national environmental consulting firm, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
