The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities, and developing solutions for customers. While experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, or the construction industry is beneficial, we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate strong sales ability, technical aptitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

This position will work closely with customers, consulting engineers, contractors, and our internal operations team to develop Building Automation opportunities from initial concept through proposal and award.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with building owners, end users, design/build contractors, mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, ESCOs, and other industry partners.
  • Prospect for new customers and identify opportunities to expand relationships with existing accounts.
  • Meet with customers to understand their needs and develop Building Automation solutions that deliver measurable value.
  • Assist consulting engineers and customers with the design and application of Building Automation and control systems.
  • Review plans, specifications, and project requirements to develop project scopes and estimates.

  • Negotiate project scope, pricing, and commercial terms with contractors and end users.
  • Partner with Operations and Project Management to ensure a smooth transition from sales to project execution and a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Support sales of new installations, system upgrades, service agreements, and ongoing maintenance solutions.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately track opportunities and customer activity within the CRM.
  • Collaborate and team-sell with other sales, engineering, and operations personnel.
  • Participate in sales meetings, technical training, and industry events.
  • Achieve annual revenue and gross margin objectives.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is motivated, adaptable, competitive, and eager to grow. The right candidate does not need to come from a large organization or have years of Building Automation sales experience. We value individuals who can learn quickly, communicate effectively, develop customer relationships, and take ownership of opportunities.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong sales instincts and the ability to build relationships and earn customer trust.
  • Motivation to prospect, develop new business, and grow a territory.
  • Ability to listen to customers, understand their challenges, and communicate solutions effectively.
  • Technical aptitude and a willingness to learn Building Automation, HVAC systems, controls, and construction processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working independently while collaborating with sales, engineering, estimating, and operations teams.
  • Willingness to use CRM tools for pipeline, opportunity, and activity management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous sales, business development, estimating, engineering, or customer-facing experience.
  • Experience in Building Automation, HVAC, mechanical systems, controls, construction, electrical, or a related technical industry.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, or controls drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems and control applications.
  • Experience with owner-direct, design/build, or plan-and-spec projects is a plus but is not required.
