Job Summary:

The Assistant Womenโ€™s Basketball Coach serves as a key member of the womenโ€™s basketball program and assists the Head Coach in all aspects of operating a successful NCAA Division II program. Responsibilities include recruiting, player development, academic monitoring, game preparation, practice planning, scouting, compliance, and administrative duties while supporting the mission and values of the institution and the athletic department.

Essential Job Functions:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with daily operations of the womenโ€™s basketball program.
  • Coach and supervise the programโ€™s developmental/junior varsity team, including practices, skill instruction, game management, and player evaluations.
  • Conduct individual and group skill development workouts.
  • Assist with practice planning, scouting reports, film breakdown, and game preparation.
  • Support recruiting efforts in accordance with NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
  • Monitor and encourage academic success, personal growth, and student-athlete accountability.
  • Assist with team travel coordination, equipment management, and operational needs.
  • Drive university-issued vehicles for team travel, recruiting activities, camps, and other program-related responsibilities while adhering to all university transportation policies.
  • Assist with organizing camps, clinics, community outreach events, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a positive representative of the university and department.

Minimum Job Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous coaching, playing, or basketball operations experience at the collegiate, high school, or competitive level.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with the ability to be approved to operate university-issued vehicles.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required.
  • Commitment to student-athlete development, academic achievement, and program culture.

Preferred Qualifications

ย 

  • Collegiate coaching or playing experience.
  • Experience with player development and skill instruction.
  • Recruiting experience and knowledge of NCAA Division II regulations.
  • Experience coordinating or coaching a developmental or junior varsity team.
  • Strength and conditioning experience or background in athletic performance training.

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations

  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required upon hire.

Physical Demands

The work environment is an athletic and office setting which requires the ability to travel much of the time, work long hours including evenings and weekends, be physically active, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and have the ability to demonstrate specific skills.ย  Ability to travel frequently and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Ability to demonstrate basketball drills and participate in on-court instruction.
