Job Description SummaryOrganization's Summary Statement:
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites applicants to apply for a for full-time, twelve-month, contractual, exempt position with limited benefits. The position reports directly to the Head Women's Basketball Coach.
The Director of Women's Basketball Operations (UMES) will be tasked with promoting the program and day-to-day administrative operations, including communication with both internal and external (NCAA, MEAC, etc.) constituencies, facility scheduling, planning and coordinating all aspects of team travel for away contests; and managing the basketball program's budget.
Salary: $45,000 - $50,000
Benefits:
Benefits other than leave are subject to change by action of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, the University System of Maryland, or the State of Maryland. The minimum benefits to be provided to all Contingent Category II employees, on an annual basis, are listed below. These benefits shall be prorated for contracts of less than one year and for less than full-time employment.
Health Insurance - Contingent Category II employees may participate in the
State Health Insurance Program and Prescription Plans that are available to
state employees. Additionally, Contingent II employees may participate in
supplemental retirement plans approved by the State of Maryland and the
USM per laws and regulations
Annual Leave - Five (5) days of accrued annual
Sick Leave - Three (3) days of accrued sick leave
Holidays -Eight (8) holidays - New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day,
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday
after Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
Responsibilities:
Plans and coordinates all aspects of team travel for away contests.
develops travel itineraries, coordinates transportation, hotel arrangements,
meals, practice sites/times, to meet NCAA rules and regulations.
Ensures appropriate per diems are allocated to players, coaches and others
in travel party, reconciles all travel expenses, travels with team and
manages logistics, coordinates problem resolutions.
Manages basketball program budget, ensuring expenses are within the
rules and regulations of the university, Foundation and the NCAA.
Prepares, analyzes and interprets the team's financial condition by
monitoring financial reports, recording significant changes and making
recommendations to the coach.
Prepares and reviews fiscal related documents such as requisitions,
quotations, purchase orders, travel and other fiscal documents for
compliance with applicable laws, and with university, Foundation, and
NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Monitors student-athlete livelihood including on-campus housing issues,
meal plans, financial aid applications and status, limitations of practice
hours, class attendance, study hall hours, and per diem money during
school holidays and breaks.
Works with vendors to order, design, logo (within branding guidelines), and
distribute uniforms/gear to members of program.
Secures facilities on a day-to-day basis for all home and away practice
times; and serves as a liaison with facilities on scheduling.
Collaborates with visiting basketball teams to coordinate scheduling of
practice times, and assists visiting teams with game day needs, such as
pre-game meals.
Records game statistics as required and presents statistics and analysis as
requested.
Hires, supervises, and evaluates team managers and ball-kids; and selects
and monitors program volunteers.
Assists with video editing systems, providing game day management,
assist with designing graphics and contest of recruiting materials,
managing the budget, paying small dollar invoices, assisting with P-card
reconciliation for Head coach as needed.
Assist in the recruitment of student-athletes under the direction of the
Head Coach.
Exhibits the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with
regard to adherence to NCAA, Conference, University and the Department
of Athletics code of ethics
Performs other related as assigned.
Physical Demands:
May be required to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping,
reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting.
May be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
May be required to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
May be required to operate a variety of equipment to include office
equipment.Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: High School, Collegiate or Professional coaching experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge of Intercollegiate Athletics and the rules set forth by the governing bodies; NCAA, and MEAC.

Knowledge of basketball strategies.

Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.

Ability to communicate effectively.
