Youth Basketball Operations & Sales Manager

Team Esface Basketball Academy

Redwood City, CA • On-site

$35 - $40/hr

Full-time

Posted 22 days ago

Job description

Before You Apply, Ask Yourself:
  • Are you the type of person who picks up the phone to close, not just sends another email and hopes for the best?
  • Do you know basketball well enough to step on a court and lead a practice if a coach doesn't show up?
  • Can you talk credibly about player development, competitive travel basketball, and summer camps, and help a parent figure out what's right for their kid?
  • Do you take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks?

If you said "yes" to all of these, keep reading. This role was designed for you.
The Role
Team Esface is hiring a full-time Youth Basketball Operations & Sales Manager, a hybrid role that is equal parts program operations and revenue generation.
Half your time is spent running TrueLeague, our recreational youth basketball league: managing on-site game nights and practices, communicating with families, and being the face of Team Esface for 100+ families each season.
The other half is spent selling, leading our Summer Hoop Camp enrollment effort and serving as a sales support partner across Black Club, College Prep, and training programs. You'll make outreach calls, follow up on leads, close registrations in person, and take delegated sales tasks off leadership's plate during high-volume periods.
This is not a desk job. You'll be on the gym floor engaging parents face-to-face, picking up the phone to close camp registrations, and stepping on court when needed. You need to know basketball, love talking to people, and take pride in running things that work.
What You'll Do
Run TrueLeague Operations
  • Own on-site operations for practices and Friday game nights: setup, schedule execution, and ensuring every family's experience meets our premium standard
  • Be the primary parent-facing representative - the first impression and the trusted point of contact
  • Manage weekly communications, game schedules, game film uploads, and Playbook Sports platform updates
  • Respond to all parent inquiries promptly and maintain a rolling log of parent interactions and follow-ups

Drive Sales & Revenue
  • Lead the Summer Hoop Camp enrollment effort through direct outreach, in-person conversations, and follow-ups - with a personal target of 30+ net-new registrations
  • Use every on-site shift as a live sales environment - engage parents about camp, training, Black Club, and College Prep with intention, not just small talk
  • Support the Program Manager with delegated sales tasks: roster confirmation calls, evaluation follow-ups, mass emails during launch weeks, and pipeline tracking
  • Coordinate with our Content Marketing Specialist to align outreach with ad campaigns and email blasts
  • Execute grassroots tactics: flyers at local schools, community events, and building relationships with school athletic directors

Connect the Dots Across Programs
  • Know every Team Esface program well enough to answer any parent's question - TrueLeague, Black Club, College Prep, training, and camp - without needing to hand them off
  • Identify standout players and engaged families ready to move up in our ecosystem and guide them toward the right next step
  • During onboarding, observe Black Club practices, College Prep sessions, and training workouts firsthand so you can sell from experience, not a brochure

Be Court-Ready
  • Step on court to lead a practice or manage a game if the On-Court Director is unavailable - this isn't a daily expectation, but you need to be capable and credible
What We're Looking For
Required:
  • Basketball knowledge - you played or coached. You can step on court and be credible
  • 2+ years of sales experience - outreach, closing, hitting targets in any industry
  • 2+ years of customer-facing operations or event management
  • Exceptional people skills - you build trust fast and close without being pushy
  • Highly organized - checklists get done, deadlines get met, comms go out on time
  • Proficient with Google Workspace; able to learn new platforms quickly
  • Available for evening on-site shifts (Mon/Wed/Fri) with flexibility for remote work during the balance of the week

Preferred:
  • Experience in youth basketball or youth sports programs
  • CRM or customer tracking experience
  • Grassroots marketing or community outreach background
  • Knowledge of the Bay Area youth sports landscape
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Work Environment
This is a full-time, in-person role based at Team Esface facilities in Redwood City, CA. It requires evenings and some weekends during peak season. When you're at the gym, you're on your feet engaging with coaches and parents. Dress in Team Esface branded athletic attire and be court-ready at all times.
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $35 - $40/hour (dependent on experience)
Estimated Annual Compensation: $70,000-$80,000 + yearly bonus potential
