Position Summary

As a global sports and media business, the NBA is so much more. While Basketball Operations runs the league's on-court activities, other departments manage relationships with television and digital media partners, develop marketing partnerships with some of the world's most recognizable companies, oversee the licensing of NBA merchandise, and handle a wide range of responsibilities that drive the NBA's success.
This role will primarily be responsible for aiding the Controller's Group in the month-end close process, year-end audit, preparing balance sheet, fixed assets, and P&L account reconciliations, as well as assisting in various ad hoc projects/tasks.
Major Responsibilities
  • Responsible for various month-end & year-end close activities including preparing and posting journals and providing supporting schedules in accordance with department deadlines
  • Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of multiple bank accounts and timely resolution of any reconciling items
  • Responsible for the distribution and posting of the monthly Corcentric accrual
  • Assist in prepping/analyzing reconciliations & supporting schedules for balance sheet & P&L accounts for multiple NBA entities in accordance with department deadlines
  • Assist in refining and improving accounting processes, financial reporting systems, and internal controls to increase operational effectiveness and ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Assist in preparing audit work papers to support interim and annual financial audits
  • Prepare documentation supporting monthly/quarterly intercompany balance settlements
  • Prepare accounting schedules detailing the company's fixed asset activity
  • Assist with fixed asset process documentation, project creation/maintenance, and physical inventory counts
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects including system testing and implementing process improvements

Required Education/Professional Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 1+ years of general accounting

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, most notably Excel.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be well organized, and be able to work on multiple deliverables while consistently meeting departmental deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently
  • Experience with SAP or a comparable financial system, Blackline, and knowledge of US GAAP are a plus
  • Knowledge of AI Tools (i.e. Microsoft Co-Pilot, Chat GPT) and the ability to leverage such tools to automate repetitive, low value tasks

Salary Range:
$80,000-$90,000
