Job description

Position Overview:

The Mystics Operations and Strategy Coordinator will be responsible for assisting Mystics leadership and other members of Basketball Operations in transaction execution, process implementation, strategic planning and salary cap management that impact the decision-making process for the Mystics.

Responsibilities:
  • Support day-to-day operational, logistical, and administrative needs of Mystics Basketball Operations.
  • Manage and refine day-to-day processes of the Basketball Operations department to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Mystics Basketball Operations on developing plans, salary cap management, contract negotiation/completion, and preparation of major WNBA transactional periods (Trade Deadline, Draft, Free Agency, Extension windows, etc.).
  • Study and analyze league precedents to optimize basketball decision-making at all levels.
  • Serve as point of contact with WNBA league office for league rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of 2020/2026 WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Familiarity with the 2023 NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Working knowledge of the WNBA, team rosters, and league trends.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, performance-focused environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • High integrity, dependable, and comfortable with confidential information.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Previous WNBA, NBA, or other basketball operations experience.
  • Programming / technical experience is a plus (SQL, R, Python, Shiny).
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay Range: $90k-120k USD.
