Job description

Shipyard Sports and Events Center is looking for a motivated and knowledgeable Basketball Coordinator to join our team. This role is hands-on and focused on helping players grow their skills through individual training, team clinics, leagues, and tournaments. Using our facility the Basketball Coordinator will help build strong programs and create a great experience for every athlete who walks through our doors.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Run one-on-one training sessions focused on shooting, ball handling, defense, and overall fundamentals.
  • Lead team clinics and small group workouts to improve teamwork, game awareness, and decision-making.
  • Lead and grow our Club Basketball Program, including organizing and running tryouts, recruiting and managing coaches, and building out the season schedule and structure.
  • Plan and operate in-house basketball tournaments and events, including recruiting teams, securing officials, and overseeing game-day operations.
  • Help organize and support leagues, camps, and other basketball programs hosted at the facility.
  • Work closely with facility staff to coordinate scheduling, programs, and special events.

Qualifications:
  • Experience coaching basketball, running skills training, or working in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, game strategy, and player development.
  • Ability to lead, communicate clearly, and connect with athletes of different ages and skill levels.
  • Experience organizing leagues, tournaments, or club programs is a plus.
  • Coaching or sports-related certifications are helpful but not required.
