New York Life is evolving its consumer digital ecosystem to better serve prospects and clients across awareness, education, and decision-making journeys. NYL.com serves as a primary entry point, but consumer engagement increasingly spans multiple digital touchpoints and is shaped by AI-driven search and discovery behaviors.
We're seeking a Content Strategist, AI & Consumer Experiences to drive content strategy across NYL.com and broader consumer digital journeys. This is a strategic role focused on building structured, scalable content that reinforces trust & expertise, and supports discoverability and cohesive consumer experiences in a changing AI landscape.
You'll partner closely with Content Strategy Lead, Design, Marketing, Product, Research, Analytics, SEO, and Compliance to ensure consumer content is aligned, performance-driven, and future-ready.
Key Responsibilities:
Consumer Experience Content Strategy
  • Define and evolve content strategy across NYL.com and other consumer and client-facing digital journeys and ensure cohesion across experiences.
  • Map and structure content across awareness, consideration, and conversion stages to reduce friction and improve clarity.
  • Establish strategic frameworks for core product/solution pages, FAQ libraries, and campaign landing experiences.
  • Establish content patterns and page-level frameworks that support intuitive navigation and decision-making.
  • Ensure messaging and interaction logic remain consistent across consumer digital touchpoints.

AI & Search-Driven Discoverability
  • Execute AI-driven discoverability strategy and translate it across NYL.com & consumer experiences, including adapting to generative search and AI Overviews.
  • Shape structured content and schema approaches that improve how consumer content is organized, surfaced, and interpreted in search and AI-driven environments.
  • Partner with Analytics to evolve performance models beyond traditional keyword metrics.
  • Future-proof consumer content for emerging search behaviors and AI-mediated discovery.

Structured Content & Governance
  • Develop scalable content models that support reuse, modularity, and clarity across digital consumer experiences.
  • Align consumer content structures with enterprise taxonomy and structured content standards.
  • Identify and reduce duplication or fragmentation across pages and journeys.
  • Lead content modernization efforts to improve clarity, consistency, and performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Content and Design colleagues to ensure content supports intuitive page layouts and interaction flows.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Marketing to align brand and experience-level messaging and priorities
  • Work with Authoring & Enablement to implement structured and reusable content systems and publishing workflows
  • Participate in Compliance and Legal reviews to ensure consumer-facing content meets regulatory standards.

What Success Looks Like
  • Consumer content demonstrates measurable improvements in visibility, engagement, and conversion and is discoverable across traditional search and AI-driven search.
  • Digital experiences reinforce trust and transparency at key decision points.
  • Content journeys consistently communicate New York Life's full breadth of solutions, beyond just life insurance.
  • Content architecture supports deeper understanding of financial planning topics and product options.
  • Digital consumer experiences reinforce credibility, transparency, and long-term trust.

Qualifications
Experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in content strategy, digital product content, UX writing, or structured content architecture.
  • Experience working within cross-functional digital product or experience teams.
  • Demonstrated experience shaping content systems across complex, multi-page digital experiences.
  • Experience supporting search-driven or AI-influenced digital environments.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries strongly preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across Design, Research, Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Compliance.
