Job Description:

The Financial Restructuring Group ("FRG") within TD Canadian Commercial Banking is a center of excellence where the primary role is to actively manage a portfolio of higher risk and/or financially challenged borrowers. The Account Manager ("AM) works closely with the Commercial and Agricultural Banking Centers and with external professionals including Bank and Borrower Legal Counsel, Accountants/Monitors, Receivers and Trustees.

This career opportunity as an Account Manager, Associate role has been designed to allow you to develop & learn best practices before moving into an Account Manager role. As an Associate you will partner with a Commercial Banking Center team to learn TD's commercial lending and risk practices.

An Account Manager in FRG manages their own portfolio of higher risk relationships across Western Canada. The AM is responsible for structuring credits and addressing heightened risk scenarios. This includes completing the necessary due diligence, reviewing the structure of terms and conditions of credit, security and pricing to reflect the increased risk. It also includes writing ongoing credit reviews, assessing risk and presenting a recommendation that addresses Bank policies and procedures.

The Account Manager in FRG is an experienced and trusted advisor who, with the understanding of a client's operating environment, structures innovative solutions to meet the Borrower's unique liquidity and business needs.

Description:

This career opportunity also encompasses the following:

  • Assist clients to restructure credit deals so that they remain both viable and long-term customers of the Bank. Protect the Bank's shareholders, where/when necessary, exit relationships and/or realize on assets to repay the Bank's exposure.
  • Recommend and negotiate loan pricing/fees commensurate with the risk profile of the relationship.
  • Ensure products and services operate in a compliant manner minimizing the regulatory compliance and operational risk to the Bank.
  • Make sure credit risk is properly assessed by performing independent risk analysis and by rationalizing any exceptions to the policies and lending guidelines of the Bank.
  • Develop creative solutions to minimize risk and when possible, provide support and flexibility to the client during the restructuring period.
  • Protect the Bank's assets by managing/using adequate risk monitoring systems and processes and by evaluating each account's performance as it relates to the assessment and management of credit risk.
  • Monitor and control the portfolio and provide feedback to the Manager Commercial Credit as appropriate.
  • Understand the market and the industries within the portfolio to ensure value added service is provided to clients while mitigating risk to the Bank.
  • Enhance the TD brand by participating in network events. Embrace and promote a positive environment that supports a diverse workplace.
  • Actively participate in the performance management process including performance reviews, feedback and coaching sessions.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with various professional firms

Job Requirements:

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics Finance or other quantitative discipline MBA or CFA would be an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years' Commercial Account Management experience managing borrowers with over a million dollars in credit exposure, or you may have experience in another profession such as consulting that supports the needs of business and are looking for an opportunity to add value from a different perspective.
  • You have well-developed financial business acumen analysis skills, solid relationship management skills and a proactive approach to building and fostering strong business relationships with our customers and internal partners.
