Job description

HR Assistant

Maxxima is seeking an organized, detail-oriented HR Assistant to support our Human Resources department and help create an exceptional employee experience. Reporting directly to the HR Manager, this role provides hands-on experience across recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, HR technology, employee engagement, and compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in human resources while making a meaningful impact within a collaborative and employee-focused environment.

This is a full-time onsite position based in Hauppauge, NY, Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Limited travel to our Lake Park, FL location may be required on an as needed basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support recruiting activities, including job postings, resume screening, phone screens, interview scheduling, and ATS maintenance
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and employment documentation
  • Maintain knowledge of laws related to company policies and procedures
  • Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee inquiries
  • Support performance reviews, employee training, and compliance initiatives
  • Maintain employee records and status changes in the HCM system
  • Generate HRMS reports, analytics, workflows, and dashboards as needed
  • Research HR tech, trends, and best practices to enhance efficiency
  • Coordinate company events, employee programs, and HR projects
  • Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the HR department
  • Perform additional HR duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of HR or administrative support experience
  • Basic understanding of labor laws and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, and/or benefits administration
  • Experience with HRIS, HRMS, or HCM platforms preferred; Paylocity experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and data
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and communicate effectively with employees at all levels
  • Maintain a results driven approach to resolving HR matters
  • Demonstrated integrity with the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
