Location: North Richland Hills, TX
Heavy Civil Construction Scheduler

Position Summary
Scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules for highway, bridge, roadway, and other heavy civil infrastructure projects. This position will work closely with project management, field operations, owners, subcontractors, and engineers to ensure projects are planned, monitored, and completed on schedule. The Scheduler will utilize Primavera P6 to develop baseline schedules, update progress, identify critical path impacts, evaluate delays, and support change orders and Time Impact Analyses (TIA).
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed baseline CPM schedules using Primavera P6 for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Prepare resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules when required.
  • Maintain and update project schedules on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Perform Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis and identify schedule risks.
  • Monitor project progress and compare actual performance against the baseline schedule.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, Estimators, and Subcontractors to obtain schedule updates.
  • Prepare schedule narratives describing project status, progress, critical activities, and recovery plans.
  • Identify schedule delays and analyze impacts to project completion.
  • Develop recovery schedules and acceleration plans when required.
  • Perform Time Impact Analyses (TIA) and forensic schedule analysis for delay claims.
  • Analyze owner-caused, contractor-caused, utility, weather, and third-party delays.
  • Prepare schedule exhibits for change orders, claims, and dispute resolution.
  • Review subcontractor schedules for compliance with contract requirements.
  • Assist estimating teams during bid phase with schedule development and phasing plans.
  • Coordinate schedule logic with traffic control phasing, utility relocations, environmental restrictions, and permit requirements.
  • Track project milestones, float consumption, near-critical activities, and schedule performance metrics.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, progress meetings, and owner schedule reviews.
  • Ensure schedules comply with contract specifications including TXDOT scheduling requirements.
  • Support management with executive-level schedule reporting and dashboard development.
  • Maintain historical schedule documentation and schedule revisions throughout the life of the project.
  • Assist with preparation of extension of time requests and contract modifications.
  • Collaborate with field personnel to verify production rates and sequencing of work activities.
  • Develop look-ahead schedules ranging from two to six weeks for field operations.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.
  • Experience developing baseline, update, recovery, and as-built schedules.
  • Ability to perform Time Impact Analysis (TIA) and create a TIA report
  • Familiarity with forensic schedule analysis techniques.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing for highways, bridges, utilities, drainage, paving, earthwork, and structures.
  • Knowledge of resource loading and schedule optimization.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience with scheduling software integrations and reporting tools is preferred.
  • Capable of evaluating multiple schedule scenarios and forecasting project completion.
  • Ability to prepare professional schedule narratives and reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent documentation and record-keeping practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of mid-level scheduling experience in heavy civil construction
  • Experience on TXDOT, municipal, DOT, or federal transportation projects preferred.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing Time Impact Analyses (TIA).
  • Understanding of schedule specifications for public infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with production tracking and earned value concepts.
  • PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) certification is preferred but not required
