Role Overview
The Senior Project Scheduler supports Project Management by providing detailed schedules reflecting the entire project cycle from development through execution and close as well as leveraging schedule software to provide new and innovative ways to monitor schedule progress, improve schedule accuracy, track/trend project controls, change order tracking and more. The Senior Project Scheduler is responsible for developing project templates with the project team and maintaining them within the database software. These templates will establish a controlled standard across the business and include views/filters/reports, such as critical path analysis or variance, allowing quick and effective decision making. These templates must also include resource and cost loading data. The database will house standard templates, alternate schedules, and project-specific schedules in an organized and controlled manner. Schedule updates during execution are necessary, and the scheduler may have to maintain several schedules at any given time for various projects in various stages. This includes adding/removing/altering variables based on the needs of a dynamic upgrade/maintenance event and working with the project team on project status, identifying opportunities for improvement, delays/recovery plans, and areas where additional concentration is required. The Senior Project Scheduler acts as the subject matter expert for the scheduling team and provides coaching and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Develop logically linked complex schedules from proposal documents, contract documents, and estimate sheets.
  • Maintain master schedule for each project and identify and record the impact of work performed and not performed as scheduled. Evaluate actual progress and provide regular schedule updates.
  • Organize and maintain a standard schedule database, which includes templates, target schedules, actuals, etc.
  • Conducts advanced delay analysis, forensic schedule reviews, and provides schedule risk assessments and mitigation planning
  • Interface with the core team to discuss the impact of work and the resolution of problems.
  • Incorporate Resource and/or Cost Loading data into schedules as required.
  • Frequently interacts with executive stakeholders, clients, and contractors, and may lead scheduling discussions in progress or risk meetings.
  • Monitors and reports project performance against plan for all projects
  • Work closely with project controls and cost teams to align schedule and cost performance reporting
  • Develop a strategy for the deployment of schedules for all Power Generation Services projects
  • Lead in defining the training curriculum for schedulers across Power Generation Service
  • Mentor and coach fellow schedulers within Power Generation Services
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using for the benefit of 3rd parties.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering, Construction Management or related field from four-year college or university; and seven (7) years related experience and/or training in project scheduling of industrial, construction, or power generation projects. International business experience desirable.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle Primavera P6 at an advanced level, enabling independent schedule development, forensic and critical path analysis, and the instruction and mentorship of junior and peer schedulers.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge of resource loading scheduling software for project management scheduling applications database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc. Proficiency needed in both Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.
  • Up to 30 % travel required domestically and internationally.
