The Assistant Project Manager will assist their assigned Project Manager in the planning and oversight of site construction projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. Duties include identifying and gathering project information, coordination with subcontractors, routine project site visits, scheduling of resources and materials, and learning from their assigned Project Manager with the intent of developing into the Project Manager role. The goal of the Assistant Project Manager will be gaining the experience to manage his/her own site construction projects.
Requirements
Responsibilities
  • Attend turnover meetings with estimator and project manager to review bid estimate, ask questions, and gain clarification to ensure a successful transition from bid to project commencement
  • Assist the project manager in reviewing the scope of work and deliverables by reviewing plans, specifications, shop drawings, and attending the pre site visit
  • Assist project manager in the development and maintenance of the project schedule including staffing and material tracking logs
  • Work closely with administrative staff to ensure necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites are in place
  • Collaborate with project manager, owner/engineer, general contractor, subcontractor, and vendor to assist in ensuring quality, resolving issues, meeting deadlines, and preparing change orders
  • Communicate with project manager, superintendents, and office staff to review the project, daily activities, change orders, resources, materials, and staffing
  • Assist project manager to ensure accurate and timely buyout of each project by gathering project information, requesting project manager approval, and delegating to administrative assistant for processing and submission.
  • Assist project manager to ensure all submittals are reviewed, stamped, and submitted to the owner/engineer or general contractor for approval in a timely fashion
  • Manage change order recordkeeping, maintain awareness of the budget, and gather data for project manager monthly cost reporting
  • Assist project manager in issuing requests for information to the owner/engineer or general contractor for clarification, to determine answers to questions, or resolve omissions in drawings by gathering project information and delegating to administrative assistant for processing.
  • Assist project manager in the oversight of field operations routinely visiting project sites to guarantee the work is accurately following project specifications in a quality, cost effective, timely, and safe manner
  • Assist project manager in preparing monthly payment applications to the owner as well as monitor and resolve any disputes related to billings
  • Work closely with administrative staff by sharing project information and delegating tasks to ensure projects are completed at optimum performance level
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field- Experience in a directly related field may be accepted in lieu of formal education
  • Knowledge of site work construction preferred
  • Ability to learn project management and accounting software
  • Proficiency in MS Office required
